Levi's POV

"Does it fucking look like I'm in the mood for vacation?" I gave Y/N a death glare.

"Vacation? Who'd wanna take a vacation with you?" Y/N didn't relent on insulting me back as she narrowed her eyes, "We need to go there as part of our plan. Besides, I don't like beaches. It's too hot. There are ants in the sand. The only good thing is the water but now I'm kinda hesitant to do that after watching the anime 'Another' since there was this scene-"

"Part of our plan?" I raised an eyebrow, "In Hawaii?"

"Look man," Y/N looked exhausted, "I didn't pick the place where this guy would like to live. There is nothing I can do about it so don't blame me. Besides, what is your opposition with Hawaii? Can't you tolerate the heat for less than a week?"

No, it was not about the heat. I actually didn't hate the summer. I didn't hate any season but my favourite was spring. But the reason I didn't want to go to Hawaii was because Dad had planned our vacation there before he....

And it was around this time of the year too. So I didn't want to go.

But I suppose there were more important things than how I felt about this. I needed to go to Hawaii whether I liked it or not.

"When are we leaving?" I plopped on the bed in the room we had been given by Y/N's acquaintance and I wasn't looking forward to arguing about who would take the bed and who would take the floor.

"I still have to call my brother and ask him to send me a picture of the board so I don't even know if the person we are looking for is even hosting any party that we can enter using at this time of the year," Y/N sighed.

"Then call him now!"

"No, wait!" Y/N gave her reasoning behind her decision, "I'm not friends with the guy who gave me this phone and number. For all I know, he could be tracking down my calls. I need to check the phone's software and hardware first."

"You can do it alone?"

"Who do you think you're talking to?!" Y/N puffed her cheeks in annoyance, "I have a doctorate in tech!"

"That explains how you're ridiculously good at doing tech stuff and most of your plans revolve around that stuff," I thought out loud.

"Yeah," Y/N responded and the room was quiet for a while before I finally broke the silence.

"When can I...get back?"

"It will take a few weeks at best," Y/N sighed, "It can take months or even years. Why? Am I that intolerable?"

"Yes," I answered, "But I need to get back home for other reasons. I don't know what they will do when they hear that I escaped from prison. And more importantly, what will happen to them."

"'Them' meaning that your friends?" My partner asked me as I nodded, "Hmm, I'm pretty sure that they will be fine."

"And what will you do about the fact that I ran away from prison?" I inquired, "What excuse could you possibly provide?"

"I will...steal another diamond to give to you. You can take it and say that you prevented it from being stolen and that you pretended to be on my side to prevent me from stealing and to catch me one more time since I was about to escape. You will be unsuccessful in catching me in the story but the diamond will be enough to convince them that you are innocent. You can also tell them about how you got me to confess that the diamond that you recovered was a fake and no one stole the fake. I will also reveal the news on my side that I still have the real Idol's Eye."

"And what if it doesn't work?" I narrowed my eyes.

"And what if my acquaintance betrays me and comes here to kill me? And what if another tech-god traces my identity somehow? And what if I get a heart attack the next second? And what if a meteor strikes us? Nothing is certain in this world, Levi. In this life, the problem just becomes more visible."
