18. Taking the Fall

Levi's POV

"Petra, what is this?" I asked my squad member who was pointing a gun at me as tears flowed through her eyes and she sobbed as I kept my hands in the air.

"I-I'm sorry, Ca-captain, but y-you're under arrest," Oluo, who was crying way more than Petra, sobbed out.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Isabel pointed her gun at Eld and Gunther, moving it between them to keep them both in their places in the local tea shop we were in which had been strangely emptied in the past few minutes and now I knew the reason.

"Calm down, Isabel," Furlan tried to keep his calm persona as he too defended me with the gun he was holding in his hands as he himself looked quite nervous.

"Under arrest for what?" I tried to get information out of the four squadmates that were either pointing guns at me or trying to arrest me as I just stood there and didn't pull out my gun when I had the chance.

Probably because I can't ever point my gun at them.

"C-captain," Petra addressed me by my title, "You stole the diamond."

"What?!" I barked as Petra flinched back and Eld chose to explain instead of her.

"She means to say that that's what you're under arrest for. She isn't saying that you did it."

Isabel narrowed her eyes at Eld in confusion as Furlan took over the negotiation while walking in front of me with his gun in his hands, he ordered, "You're not making much sense. Be clear!"

"Vice-Captain!" Gunther saluted as he explained clearly, "The diamond aka the Idol's Eye that we recovered from our target Y/N has gone missing and has been replaced with a very similar looking fake! The higher ups suspect our squad and we have been ordered to arrest Captain before we are suspended indefinitely until they get to the bottom of this! The Commander negotiated with the higher ups to only arrest the Captain for now and they will even remove it from his criminal record if it is proven that he is innocent!"

"Bullshit," Isabel growled furiously as she grabbed my left arm and hugged it, still holding and pointing her gun at our squadmates, "You aren't taking Big Bro anywhere."

"Calm down, Isabel," I lowered my arms, "Erwin said-"

"It doesn't matter what the Commander said!" Furlan snapped at me as he took Isabel's side, "They can't just arrest you like this! Especially after all you've done for the department and the public!" He turned to our other squadmates, "And how can you surrender your captain to save your asses?!"

"We're not doing this to save ourselves!" Petra told him, "We'll be suspended anyways! But that's the least of our concerns! If the captain comes with us without struggling then they'll listen to him!"

"Don't tell me you actually believe that shit!" Furlan looked furious as he dangerously glared at the others, "The higher ups have their own higher ups to respond to! They'll just report it as they already have gotten to the bottom of this and not investigate it anymore because it doesn't affect them! If Levi goes with you then he's probably never coming back!"

"Believe the commander!"

"That jackass can't do shit!" Furlan swore as he publicly revealed his disliking for our commander, "He'll try to get Levi back but he won't be successful! Levi's not going with you! Even if it costs me my life-"

"Enough!" I shouted as all the yelling immediately stopped before I continued, "I'll go with you. It likely won't end well for any of us if I don't. Erwin has been able to save your asses for now but he won't be able to any longer if I screw this up and not surrender myself as the one who was in charge of the mission."
