Reader's POV
"Fuck my life."
"It's not that bad," I held in a laugh as I utilised my mediocre dancing skills and tried to not step on Levi's feet.
Levi clenched his hand on my shoulder and glared at me since I was having way too much fun with this situation. He was the unlucky one here because once I left to get the diamond, he would have to dance for quite a while longer which was only salt to his wound.
"How much longer?" He grumbled as I twirled him around.
"Just at the end of this song," I hummed, "Now you know that my work isn't as simple as it seems."
"You choose to do it."
"Doesn't make it any easier."
"Whatever," Levi rolled his eyes as I pressed a chaste kiss on his knuckles and parted from him.
I nodded at Levi to start the plan as I haggardly excused myself to the washroom. I waited inside for a minute or two before slipping past into one of many paths I had memorised of this place. All I hoped that in this maze of a place, there was at least one route I could take which wouldn't be heavily supervised and I could pass through, undetected. All I needed was there to be no active guards. The cameras were under my control. Most of the situation was under my control.
I sneaked around, trying to be on my tiptoes if possible because dress shoes weren't the most silent ones. I was unsuccessful in my attempts since the gunshot wound pummeled bursts of pain throughout my body when I tried to exert it even a little bit.
I was in the middle of climbing a flight of stairs when a sound sputtered in my earpiece.
"There yet?"
"Not yet," I muttered, "How's everything going there?"
"I'm...managing," He said, "If all this turns out to be useless, I'll kill you."
"Then, on top of escaping a prison and helping a criminal escape, you'll also have a murder on your hands," I smirked.
"Fuck you."
I didn't respond when I heard talking on the other line of the earpiece. Levi was talking to someone, which was typical of someone in a party but what surprised me was that he had managed to make himself appear friendly and had made his voice sound a bit softer. His voice sounded hilarious and I guessed it would beforehand so I set the earpiece to record and save the conversations. It could be a great tool to tease him later.
I pulled my wrist up and unlocked my smartwatch to look at the map once more. Though I had it memorised for the most part, I wanted to make sure I wouldn't go wrong. One mistake could make this all fall apart.
I scanned the area around me and chose to take the left path between the two I was presented to choose between since it was the shorter one to my destination. The moment I caught sight of a guard, I backed up against the wall and inched my way over, back to where I came. From there, I took the right path, hoping it would be clear or the plan would fail.
"There yet?" I heard the impatient voice in my earpiece ask again.
"Not yet," I grunted, "Maybe I really should have switched the roles. My legs hurt from walking."
"I told you that you weren't ready for this. You're still injured."
"I told you. We have to get this before Mikasa does."
"We should have planned something else then."
"Like what?"
"A break in."
"What?" I was shocked, "Do you hear yourself? We would be far outnumbered. You really don't understand how this works."
"I'm not too upset about understanding the mind of a criminal," He scoffed.
