Reader's POV
I woke up to a throbbing pain in my head. I looked at the ceiling. It definitely wasn't the ceiling of the hotel I was supposed to be staying in. I lifted myself up, searching for some water to ease my headache. Conveniently, I found a glass of clear water by my bedside; though it would be inaccurate to call it a bedside because I wasn't on a bed. I was on a futon. And the glass of water was on a tray on the floor.
"Took you long enough to wake up," I heard a scoff behind me as I gulped down the water, "I was starting to think that you were gone for good."
"Levi?" I croaked out, "What-what happened?"
"Here," Levi handed me my phone. He seemed to be on a call with someone. It took me a moment to recognize the number and flinch, "This guy has been constantly bothering me for the past day and a half. Tell him to shut it."
"P-pock?"
"Y/N! Where were you?!"
"I-," I was silent. I didn't know what excuse Levi had given to him.
"I told you she was on a stressful mission so she had to rest," Levi said to Porco so that I would know what to say to him.
But man, it's a bad excuse.
This guy is terrible at lying.
"Y-yeah," I played along. There was no way I could change the excuse Levi had already given him. And there was no way I could tell him the truth because honestly, I didn't even fully remember it. I didn't even want to think about it, "I was resting."
"For a day and a half?! That's too long, even for you! And why do you sound so weak?!" Porco yelled.
"I am tired!" I yelled back, forgetting that my throat was weak and that straining my voice would make me cough harshly.
Levi immediately got up from his bending position beside me as he got up to refill my glass of water in concern. Porco was quiet. Strange.
I stopped coughing once I drank the second glass of water Levi had given me. Then I thanked Levi and began talking to Porco again who hadn't spoken another word.
"I-I told you to not call me on this number. I told you to use the code."
"With the amount of urgency you told me to not use this number again," Porco was finally quiet, "I could hardly not be concerned. Also, Floch and Niccolo were very angry that you didn't tell them that you were safe."
"You're on speaker!"
"So what? I already accidentally revealed my name to your partner. We're doomed already if he turns on us."
"W-wha?"
"I won't investigate it," Levi promised, "We had a deal. I won't break it. No one will hear about your details from me."
"T-thank you...," I went quiet.
"By the way, Y/N," Porco questioned, "Did you meet...Marcel?"
"I did," I smiled, "Thank you for finally reaching out to him. I really missed him."
"It's no problem," Porco didn't admit that he missed Marcel as well, "When I asked him about you, he told me some things. Do you want to come clean?"
"Your tricks won't work on me. Nothing happened," I lied.
"Same old Y/N," Porco sighed, "All Marcel told me was that you were okay but I got the feeling that he was holding something back. He would only do something like that if you asked him to."
"I told you that nothing eventful happened. I'm fine."
"Y/N...," Porco had a very serious and quiet tone, "I know you're lying. I know something happened because I know my brother and how he behaves when he's lying. I know something happened because you sound weak. Even though I can't figure out if you're lying or not, I can figure out if you're well or not. Please tell me, what happened?"
