Lucien's P.O.V.

I'm glad I was able to help Bella see my Dad as just a man, and not an angel or demon. She's worried enough about making a good impression without all that added pressure. When we get back to the edge of her property, I land and take her hand as we walk toward her house. The dogs run toward us, barking and yipping, while the horses snort, the sheep bleat, and the chickens cluck. It's a soothing sound, the noises of all the animals. My sense of serenity is obliterated by the ringing of my phone. I reach into my pocket, see who is calling, and tell Bella it's my Dad as I answer it.

"I looked into Thomas Kincaid for you and I didn't find a lot. He's in our records because he's feeling guilty about something, but whatever it is, it is not enough to bring him to our doorstep," my Dad says without preamble.

"Okay," I say, still perturbed about the feeling I have of him. Shoot, there goes that assumption. "Was there anyone who IS feeling guilty about something they did in Pigeon Forge three years ago?" I feel Bella's attention snap in my direction.

"Yesss," my father drawls out. "A Mr. Jonathan Jacob Henry, now 28, is a walking time bomb over an incident that occurred on June 29th, 2019. Unfortunately for him, that is not his only offense...he's more than a blip on our radar."

I turn to Bella, "Did your assault happen on June 29th, 2019?"

She nods her head in confusion. "What are you two doing?"

"Finding the man who attacked you," I tell her, refocusing on my father. "Do we know where he is now?"

"In a town called Sevierville, Tennessee," my Dad says almost immediately.

I smile evilly. "Dad, do you feel like coming with me when I pay a little visit to Mr. Henry?"

He chuckles with a demonic undertone, "It would be my absolute honor."

I make plans to meet up with him tomorrow morning and hang up the phone. I turn to Bella who doesn't seem too happy with me at the moment.

"I'm not sure about this Lucien, I told you that when you brought it up before."

I look at her, trying to align the words I need to say to make her understand how important this is to me. "Bella, there are moments in the day when I want to murder the man who put so much doubt in you. If there is one thing my father hates it's when the strong overpower the weak as a means to satisfy something twisted in them. He's instilled that same vehemence in me." I stand in front of her and caress her cheek. "I need to get justice for you, it's important to me."

"But I don't know if I can face this right now," Bella tells me, fear creeping into her eyes.

"My Dad and I will never let anything happen to you, I promise. Besides, there is nothing this asshole can wield that will harm us," I tell her, gently holding her hands. I notice they're shaking just a little, and it's enough to put me on edge. "Do you see what he's doing to you? You're shaking at the mere mention of him. I'm not going to let him scare you anymore. It's time for us to scare him."

I can see a steely resolve settle over her. I've managed to keep her panic at bay when she thinks about meeting my father, but now I heaped this mess into her lap. She's proving to me just how incredible she is. She's a fighter, a survivor, and I couldn't be prouder of her when she says, "Okay, you're right. Go get this piece of shit and make him pay for what he did to me."
