Lucien's P.O.V.
Leave it to Bella to spell it out for me in crystal clarity. I can't worry that I'm good enough for her, or that she doesn't want to be with me, the universe has decreed we are soul mates and will spend our lives together, for all eternity. That makes me happier than I have ever been in my entire life, although I'm sure Bella has a lot of questions, especially now that I told her my Grandfather has offered to make her immortal. Maybe my parents can help her understand, so I ask if she's ready to meet them. When she nods and reminds me I haven't spent time with my Mom in centuries, I realize how eager I am to be reacquainted with her.
We climb out of the car and I watch Bella look around. Before moving here, we had the barn and fields removed, replacing them with walking paths, flowers, a large swimming pool and pool house. Dad doesn't usually go swimming, but he likes the idea of having copious amounts of water near him...there isn't much moisture in Hell.
"Wow, it's beautiful here," Bella murmurs, her eyes wide as she takes it all in.
"We remodeled the inside too, this place looks nothing like it did when old Billy killed his parents."
"How do you know what it looked like over a year ago? You've only been here a few months, right?"
I look at her for a moment, wondering how much weirdness she can handle at a time in addition to believing I got her pregnant tonight. She's been pretty amazing so far and I figure she's gotta get used to my weirdness sooner or later. "Well, William Willows is under our care," I tell her carefully. "Some of his torture stems from his memories, so Dad knew what his home looked like before we even got to Tennessee."
Bella shakes her head and snorts, turning to mumble something to herself.
I laugh, "Too much? I can tone down my answers if you don't want to hear them."
She looks at me with those fathomless hazel eyes of hers. "No, it's just...I'm not....ugh!"
I laugh harder and pull her into my embrace, kissing the top of her head. "I know," I tell her, and I squeeze a little tighter when she sighs against me. "Ready?" I ask, looking toward my front door.
"As I'll ever be I guess," she says, disentangling herself from my embrace and taking my hand.
We walk up the steps to our front door, and it opens before I can reach for the knob. My mother is standing there with a big smile on her face. I smile back at her, prepared to engulf her in my arms, but she bypasses me and heads straight to Bella, taking her in her arms.
"Sweet child, I am sure you are feeling overwhelmed and unsure of all this. Please come in. Would you like some tea?" She manages to grab my hand on her way inside with Bella in her arms, and the three of us enter the house. I kick the door shut and allow my mother to lead us into the kitchen.
My Dad is there, looking happier than I've seen him in centuries. He's still not particularly effusive, but his eyes follow my mother wherever she goes, and the light I remember from my childhood is back in them.
"Hi Dad," I say in greeting.
He lowers his head in greeting. "Son, Miss Parker," he says, acknowledging Bella.
"Okay, enough of the formalities," my mother announces. "Please call me Kate, and this is Sam," she says, indicating my father, "may we call you Bella?"
I sense Bella relax immediately. "Yes of course," she says, hugging my mother to her. "I'm so pleased you've returned here. These two missed, or maybe the right word is needed, you more than you can possibly fathom." My father scoffs as if that was the understatement of the year. Bella turns to him and says, "Thank you again for earlier today. You were right, I feel so much better."
My Dad smiles at her and holds his hand out for her to take. I see her hesitate for a fraction of a second before grasping it. When she does, he pulls her to him and says into her hair, "I am glad you found your peace. Now, we're here to answer the million questions you must have about what you've witnessed today. We realize how hard this has to be for you."
She steps back and looks up at him, nodding her head with a slight look of surprise on her face. I guess she didn't think my Mom or Dad would understand how overwhelmed she is.
