Lucien's P.O.V.
My father looks happy, looks like the weight of the world has been lifted from his shoulders. I comment on his appearance, and he narrows his eyes at me. "I'm just saying, I'm glad you finally got some last night. I don't know how you held off for so long."
"Lucien," my mother admonishes me, but my father has a sly smile on his face.
"I'm not the only one," he says silkily, and I see a blush creep up Bella's neck.
"Yeah, kinda felt like we were in competition there for a while...see who could scream the loudest," I say, receiving a firmer admonishment from my mother and a palm to her face from Bella.
"Indeed," my father says and then inquires with his velvety voice, "was there a winner?"
I shake my head. "I have to say I'm impressed," I tell him, smiling widely at his smirk. "I call last night a draw. Tonight, however, is going to be a different story."
"LUCIEN," both my mother and my girlfriend yell at me, but I choke on a laugh when I hear my father murmur, "Challenge accepted, son."
Trying valiantly to change the subject, Bella loudly says, "So Kate, I thought we could do some grocery shopping, get a facial and our nails done, have some lunch and maybe go to the movies."
My mother turns to her and smiles, relieved at the change of subject. "I'm not sure what all of that is, but it sounds lovely."
"Great!" Bella tells her, "I have to go home to get my car, but I'll be right back. Can you be ready in about thirty minutes?"
I see my parents glance quickly at each other, and interpret that look. "Make that an hour. Bella and I are going to grab some breakfast first," I tell them. My Dad acknowledges my resolution to keep us out of the house for a little longer with a slight nod of his head. I chuckle as I take Bella's hand and lead her out to the car.
"What's so funny?" she asks.
"Oh...well...right about now I'm sure my Dad is ushering my Mom back to their bedroom where he can make her scream without any witnesses."
Bella looks at me and shakes her head. "You two are cut from the same cloth."
I laugh at her comment. "We are sex Gods my beautiful princess. Well, my Dad is the God of lust and desire, I just happened to learn from the best," I tell her cheekily.
"I won't argue with that," Bella says, climbing into the car. She stops suddenly and gets out again. "Wait, I need to grab my stuff," she says, scampering back into the house. She returns five minutes later with a slight blush and a smile. I know exactly why she's blushing, and laugh at her when she gets in the car.
"I told you," I say cheekily.
"That you did," she replies, just as cheekily.
We eat breakfast at the Old Mill Restaurant and talk about our upcoming finals. I'm not worried about any of it. I can pass any test without studying, and Bella seems pretty confident in her Anatomy and History final tomorrow. She's not worried about her math final, and she took her English final last week. "I need to ask Chris to cover for me today if I'm going to be out with your Mom all day."
I nod, thinking. "Tell him I can help out at your store or farm if he needs me, I'm not doing anything today." She looks at me like I'm her hero again and nods slowly. I tune her out when she gets out her phone, thinking about my parents. If my Mom's immortal, can she have more children? I would love to have a brother or sister to liven our existence more than it is right now. While I am thinking along those lines, I start daydreaming about having a family of my own. What does a pregnancy mean for Bella? Is an angel baby considered a difficult pregnancy? Or delivery? Are we born with wings? I've got to talk to my Dad since Bella will be asking me these same types of questions. Bella hangs up her phone and tells me Chris has everything covered. Good, now I can spend the day with my father.
I pay the bill and take Bella home. She leans over to kiss me and says she'll be over as soon as she changes. I nod and watch her scamper into her house, her hips swinging naturally as she moves. She is too beautiful to comprehend, and I think about how lucky I am as I turn around and head back home.
When I get there, I tell my Mom, who is now wearing different clothes, that Bella will be here shortly, and I go searching for my father. I find him in his study, looking over paper work regarding the purchase of a home on the French Rivera. He glances up at me and puts the papers down on his desk.
"Buying another house?" I ask.
He nods. "I think Catherine would like to live in France again."
I grimace. "She might...can a you wait a bit though? There are plenty of beautiful waterfront properties here in the states."
He raises an eyebrow. "Yes, I know, I own a few," he says.
"Why don't you ask her about one of those first before moving across the world?" I suggest.
"Are you asking us to stick around?"
"Yeah, I am," I concede. "We just got Mom back, and you want to whisk her away already," I complain, then I sit quietly for a moment. "Besides, I uhh, I have some questions."
He smirks, "You seemed to know what you were doing last night."
"Ha Ha," I say sarcastically. "I'm serious." He waits me out, steepling his fingers. "Umm, well, Bella and I sort of...broke through a condom and Bella thinks she's in the right part of her cycle to get pregnant." His eyebrow raises again, the master of body language. I know exactly what he's thinking by just that raised eyebrow. "Anyway, she's going to have questions that I don't have answers to." He sits there, silently, looking at me while I try to formulate what I want to say. "Questions like, does an angel baby have a normal human gestational period? Are we born with wings? Is an angel pregnancy dangerous for humans?"
He un-steeples his fingers and sits back in his chair, with a contemplative look. "Yes, no and no," he answers cryptically.
The King of absolute ambiguity. "Could you expound on any of your answers?" I ask with a little heat in my voice.
"What is there to expound upon? Are you telling me I'm going to be a Grandfather?"
"I don't think we will know for a couple of weeks. I'm still taking precautions, just in case, but Bella thinks she has terrible luck and is already pregnant."
"Indeed," my father says, leaning forward in his chair again. "Your mother will be over the moon if this...development...comes to fruition."
"Mmm," I agree. "Speaking of Mom, now that she's immortal, can she have more children?"
He snaps his attention to me and narrows his eyes, putting his elbows on his desk and allowing his hands to fall on the glossy surface. "Shit...I didn't even think of that," he admits.
I chuckle. "Need some condoms, Dad? I have to go replenish my supply, I'd be happy to get you some." At his look, my chuckle becomes full fledged laughter.
