Lucien's P.O.V.

Bella is serene and smiling at my Dad when he asks her if she's satisfied. I can tell she's been thinking about things while we were out toying with the idiots in the back of our SUV, and it looks like she's content with what ever conclusion she's come up with. Suddenly, I feel it, the static in the air and the eerie silence of the wildlife previously engaged in a discord of animalistic grunts, chirps and buzzing. I race over to Bella and tuck her head into my chest. I don't know if her eyes can handle the intensity of the light announcing the arrival of my Grandfather.

I can sense when my father steps next to me, waiting for His appearance. My Uncle Raphael materializes first, then my Uncle Gabriel, and finally, my Grandfather. He's chosen to be visible as a moving orb of light, undulating and shimmering in the air. I am the first to break the silence, and I smile broadly at my family. "Uncle Raph, Uncle Gabe, it's good to see you. What has it been, a hundred years or so?" I feel Bella stiffen in my arms, so I bring my lips to the shell of her ear and whisper, "My Grandfather is here with two of my Uncles." Unfortunately, this doesn't have a calming effect on her, and I can feel her heart racing against my chest. "You're safe, I promise," I murmur. I can feel her nod slightly, and then her arms tighten around my waist.

Raphael looks at me in amusement. "It has been too long, young Lucien. I apologize. It was never my intent to make my favorite nephew feel forsaken."

"Favorite nephew? I'm your only nephew," I retort good naturedly. I really like my two Uncle's who accompanied my Grandfather. I want to introduce Bella to them, but she is clinging to me like I am a lifeboat, and I'm not sure when I will be able to disengage from her to make formal introductions.

Gabriel steps toward me and says, "Lucien, we should have visited the two of you before this. I know it is no excuse, but somehow time just seems to slip away. We are here now though to let you know we have rectified a serious wrong done to you and your father. Hello Samael," he says, smiling brightly at my father.

My father nods his greeting and says, "Brothers," he says politely, "Father," he nods, trying not to snarl. I know they do not have the greatest relationship. My father is pissed at his Father for disowning him and casting him away to rule Hell, never allowing him to return to the bosom of his family. My Grandfather is angry at my father for...for...Christ! I have no idea what my Grandfather has to be angry about, He got everything He wanted out of my father. 'Damn Dad,' I think to myself. 'I promise to never hold a grudge against you the way your Father did.' Once again, I feel bad for the way our relationship fractured when my mother died, knowing it was mostly my fault. But wait a minute, what is everyone doing here? Grandpa cannot be mad we are hunting again, can he? Bella's assailants are alive and well...okay, maybe not well, but nobody here lost their life because of our actions today. And what did Uncle Gabe mean when he said they are rectifying a serious wrong done to Dad and I? I turn to face them with my brows furrowed, and glance at my father whose focus is pointedly directed at his estranged family, most particularly his Father. Bella, still tucked tightly against me, has started shaking, so I stand there gently rubbing circles on her back, waiting for my Grandfather to tell us why he is here.
