Bella's P.O.V.

I've become acutely aware I am way over my league in all of this celestial stuff, but that doesn't stop the feeling I have when Lucien holds me to him. I'm beginning to understand his desire to spend eternity with me, to have what his father had, a lifetime with somebody who knows you, inside and out, and loves you foibles and all. Who wouldn't want that? My father got cheated out of his forever when the love of his life was taken from him by a drunk driver, a depressing thought that I try to push away as I continue to watch Lucien's parents reacquaint themselves in front of everyone. His mother is engulfed in his father's arms, he's kissing her neck, her ears, her cheeks, her nose, her eyes, her forehead, and she's smiling broadly, tears still streaking down her face. This is what I want, to be loved by Lucien like that, possibly forever. My reverie is interrupted when I hear God announce, "It looks like my work is done here. Lucien, please let me know when I can be of assistance to you." With that, the bright light dims and then blinks out. I turn toward where he was standing with Lucien's Uncles, and they're all gone. Snuffling noises behind me attract my attention, and I see John rubbing his leaking nose and swiping angrily at the tears on his face, while Skylar grimaces in discomfort as he shifts his position. They really have no idea what just happened.

Lucien is aware of John and Skylar too, and heads over to their position on the ground. He stands over them with his hands on his hips and then looks at the SUV. He points to the open hatchback and looks at them again. "Don't make me physically put you in the back," he growls at them angrily, "you won't like it if I do."

They look at him and slowly get up, hanging onto one another. They manage to climb into the back and Lucien shuts the door on them. Then he walks over to where his parents are quietly murmuring to one another. "Mom, Dad," he says gently. When they don't immediately respond, he tries again, this time louder. They both look up at him and I grab his hand to entwine my fingers in his. He pulls my hand to his lips and kisses my fingers while his parents make their way over to us.

"I put them in the SUV," Lucien tells his father. "Bella needs to get back to meet with her friend's cousin about purchasing his car, and these assholes need to go to the police station."

His father nods, grasping his mother's hand. "Why don't you deliver these miscreants and we will meet you back home," he says. "Bella, please join us if you can."

I nod my agreement and then watch in fascination as he unfurls his gorgeous wings that match the color of his hair, but that's not quite accurate. When the light catches them, his wings glisten purple and blue, green and black, iridescent like a humming bird. I watch as he effortlessly picks Catherine up while flapping his enormous wings, lifting off the ground in a cloud of dust and disappearing into the sky.

"Wow," I say to Lucien, following the path his father left from with my hand shaded over my eyes. I'm not sure I will ever get used to seeing something like that. When Lucien turns to me, I smile broadly. "Your Mother's back! I am so happy for you!"

He smiles a megawatt smile back at me and grabs me by the waist. I don't have time to laugh, squeal or resist before his lips crush against mine. "Mmm," I say against his mouth, kissing him with everything I've got. His hands travel down to my ass, pulling me flush against him. He pulls away from me and looks into my eyes. "I know you've already had a hell of a day," he smiles at his pun, "but you are going to be late for your meeting with Tommy if we don't get going."

I nod and we get into the car with Lucien behind the wheel. Before we get settled, Skylar sneers at me. "How could you allow that fucking monster to touch you? You're repugnant."

I see Lucien stiffen, so I put a hand on his arm, and say to Skylar, "Lucien and my future father-in-law are not the monsters in this story," I tell him nicely. "They just helped me right a wrong that you two boys committed against my person."

"You are disgusting, they're demons, how can you defend them?" Skylar sneers.

"Did you hear something," I ask Lucien, letting Skylar know I am done talking to him.

Lucien smiles, "Nope didn't hear a thing except you mentioning your future father-in-law."
