Bella's P.O.V.

When Lucien and his mother leave, my father turns to me and says, "How did your tests go today?"

"Great!" I tell him. "I know I aced them. Lucien is a terrific study partner."

He smiles at me, nodding his head. "He's a great kid, Bella, I see the way he looks at you. He is head over heels for you sweetheart." My father hugs me to him, probably wishing I was still eight years old and he was the only man in my life. "Is he treating you alright?" my Dad asks.

"Better than alright, Dad. I really like him too."

"Well, you both have college ahead of you, so don't rush into anything," he reminds me, sagely.

I nod, and as I turn away, I think morosely, 'it's way past rushing into things.' What if Kate and I are both pregnant? That is sure to be a first, Kate will be a mother and a grandmother at the same time. "Oh and Bella?" I turn back to my Dad. "Please invite the Amon's to your graduation party in a few weeks, okay?"

"Sure thing!" I say with false gaiety. In two weeks I'll know if I'm going to be having an angel baby or not.

I head home and get a jump start on my math final. I don't really need to study, math has always been easy for me. Trish calls to see how my tests went and we end up talking for thirty minutes about Tommy and his role in my assault before the subject of Lucien comes up. I need my confidant and best friend, so I tell her what happened with the condom.

"Are you shitting me?" Trish screeches over the phone.

"I wish I was," I tell her sadly. "You know me and my luck. I'm sure a fertilized egg is floating down my Fallopian tubes as we speak."

"Have you spoke to Lucien about it?" Trish asks.

"Yeah," I tell her, but I'm unable to continue.

"And?"

I sigh. "He wants this baby, if there is one. He promises to take care of it while I'm in school, has the money to support us." Trish is silent on the phone for so long that I tentatively say, "Trish?" thinking I lost connection.

"Uhh, not to state the obvious, but you've only been dating a week." I can tell Trish is worried I am rushing into things at a speed that can only spell disaster for me.

"I know...uhh...there is something I want to tell you, but I don't want you to freak out," I say, wondering if I should shoot this by Lucien first. Yeah, I probably should refrain from telling my best friend I am in love with the Devil's son.

"I'm not going to freak out, Bella. What do you want to tell me?"

Whooo, what to tell her. He's part angel? No. He's immortal? Definitely not. I take this moment to reflect upon how strange my life has become. To sum it all up, I'm in love with the Devil's four hundred year old son who just got his mother back three hundred and some odd years later because her soul was trapped by one of his evil uncles. He and his father found my attackers and ended up killing their band of merry troublemakers after they abducted me with the intent of killing me. Hmmmm, I sound certifiable. Ok, I need to tone it down a bit. "Well, I really like him, and he really likes me. I think we will be okay if I'm pregnant." When I say this out loud I realize how true it is.

I hear Trish sigh dramatically. "Bella, you've never dated before, you shouldn't fall in love with the first man who gives you an orgasm, no matter how good looking he is."

Trying to latch onto that train of thought, I say, "He is pretty spectacular, isn't he?" I want my friend to laugh and stop worrying too much about me.

She chuckles good naturedly, but then continues. "Look, I'm just saying you are moving at the speed of light here. I see disaster ahead if you don't slow down a bit." She's quiet for a moment. "I would never have placed Lucien as a family man...he's a player, in it for a good time, not somebody you can rely on to be there for you."

Alright, I need to get her to stop putting Lucien down and try to see him in a different light. "Trish, do you believe in soul-mates?" I ask, knowing full well she thinks Ryan is her soul-mate. I always scoffed at that romantic notion, but now I completely understand.

She doesn't say anything for a minute. "Are you telling me you think Lucien is your soul-mate?" she asks incredulously.

"Yeah, I am." I confess quietly. "He fixed the broken pieces of myself I've been trying to collect and reassemble these past few years. In one weekend, he filed down the jagged edges of my soul that made me mistrust, made me afraid, kept me from being ME, and I will be forever grateful. I love him, Trish, and I know he loves me."

I can hear her sniffle over the phone. "Then I am happy for you Bella," she says with genuine affection. "Let me know when you're ready to pee on a stick...I need to take a pregnancy test right along side you."

Wait, what???
