Lucien's P.O.V.
My Mother has been gifted immortality? The relief and euphoria I feel for my father is indescribable. I'm psyched too, I get my mother back, but my Dad...I turn to the elliptical ball that is my Grandfather and say, "Thank you, I'm not sure you fully understand what this means to us, to my Dad in particular."
"Oh, I think I do son," He tells me softly. "I am so disgusted I ignored what was happening, and I fixed the situation the moment I found out, but you both have suffered an inexcusable offense. I knew how to repay your father, but what can I do for you, Lucien?"
I shake my head, "Healing my father's broken soul is payment enough, Grandpa," I tell him sincerely.
He pauses for a moment then says softly, "So creating the same situation for you and Miss Parker would not be amenable?"
I turn away from the glorious sight of my parents crying and smiling at each other to look at the ball of light undulating in the air, my mouth hanging open. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" I ask Him, surprised.
"Do you not wish to spend an eternity with Miss Parker?" He asks me as if I didn't understand the question.
"Well, yes, I do, Grandpa, but don't you agree the choice should be hers, not mine?"
He's quiet again, and then I hear him chuckle softly. "Such astounding insight from you, Grandson. You are quite right, Lucien. Shall we ask her?"
"Grandpa!" I admonish. "I have to work on assuring her my love for her is real before I ask her for an eternity!" I harshly whisper. "And I don't think you being there is going to help my position. She's just barely had a chance to accept who my father and I are. I'm not sure adding you to the situation would help my case."
I see my Uncle's smile, their shoulders shaking in mirth as they try to hide their amusement. Uncle Gabe is unsuccessful and in a moment he's laughing out loud. "Can't say as I disagree," he snorts though his amusement. "Leave young Lucien to his own devices, Dad."
"Mmm, I see your point," my Grandfather says, as the light within the orb changes colors. "How about this Lucien? Once you convince that stalwart young woman you are who she's been searching for her entire life, contact me and I will grant you this favor."
My eyes widen and my mouth drops open. "You would do that for us?"
"Of course I would," He tells me gently. "I do not want a repeat of what has happened here. You have found happiness in Ms. Parker, and neither of you should be separated unwillingly from each other."
I smile widely at Him. "Thank you, I will let you know if she agrees to spend an eternity with me."
"She will, my boy, I know it."
Did He just tell me that because He's omnipotent or because He believes I can convince her of it? I guess it doesn't matter, as long as I have Bella in the end. I turn to her and see she's looking at John and Skylar strangely, so I walk over to her and discover why she's looking at them with incredulity. They are frozen, like they've been dipped in liquid nitrogen and have been set out to dry. I smile at her look of consternation.
"My Grandfather did that so they wouldn't see Him or my Uncles," I tell her, sidling up next to her.
"Are they going to be okay?" she asks, looking like she's afraid of my answer.
"Oh sure, sure. Once Grandpa leaves, they'll go back to normal and won't remember a thing."
"Why wasn't I frozen?" she asks, very quietly.
"Did you want to be?" I ask her, just as quietly. When she shakes her head, I let go of the breath I was holding and gently smile at her. "You're my girl, and I want you to be a part of this craziness I call family. My Grandfather must have recognized that."
Her mouth forms an "oh" and then she turns, burying herself in my neck. "I love you Lucien, I don't care how crazy your family is," she tells me, hugging my waist tightly. I just stand there embracing her, smiling like a fool while my parents celebrate their reunion.
