Bella's P.O.V.

Okay, I am having the best time with Kate, she is just so incredible. She continually smiles and accepts everything I've shown her as if it has always been her reality. She keeps looking at her fingernails, now polished in a subtle shade of pink, and in the mirror at her skin, which looked amazing before she had her first facial, but she's even more enthralled with it now.

I take her to Macy's to purchase some more modern looking clothing, and instead of following me, she veers toward the lingerie section. "Are these things women wear nowadays?" she asks, fingering a lacy camisole in soft pink. I smile broadly and nod. "Well, I should very much like to wear this for Sam," she says, gazing longingly at the selection of lace.

"Then let's try some on!" I tell her, grabbing a few red ones in my size, and a couple of different styles for her. We go to the dressing room and laugh together about how ridiculous men are regarding visual enticements. We each buy two different pieces, she gets a body suit with garter belts and a lacy camisole with matching shorts. I get a bustier and a baby doll with matching panties. Truth be told, I'm kind of excited to show Lucien my purchases, see his eyes darken with longing.

We stop at the make up counter where Kate gets color matched, and then purchase some make-up recommended by the stylist. "If this is what is considered attractive these days, then I want to fit in with the rest of the women," she tells me quietly.

"You are naturally beautiful and don't need any make-up to accentuate it," I tell her. She grabs my hand and whispers softly, "No dear, you are the beauty of the two of us."

I smile my thanks at her, even if I don't believe her, when I am suddenly body checked. I fall to the ground, my purchases slide across the floor toward the make up counter. When I look up at the offender for an apology, my voice gets stuck in my throat. Skylar Schmidt is standing there, leering down at me.

"Hello, bitch, remember me?" he taunts. When I don't say anything he says, "Where are those two assholes you thought you could threaten me with the other day, are they lurking around somewhere?"

"What's going on here, who are you?" Kate says, picking up my bags before stomping toward Skylar. The clerk is looking at us with concern and I tell her to call security.

"Mind your own business, whore," Skylar sneers at Kate and then turns to me, lunging to yank me to my feet.

"Let go of me," I screech, pulling and tugging, trying to get out of his grip.

"She told you to let go of her," Kate says in a menacing tone.

"Mind your own fucking business, bitch," he snarls at her, pushing Kate so hard, she stumbles and hits her head on the counter. I hear the clerk yelling, "SECURITY," as Skylar drags me toward the exit.

"I said let GO of me!" I yell, digging my fingernails into his hand. He backhands me across the face with his other hand, the pain stunning me into inaction for a moment when I realize the only reason I am still standing is because of his grip on my arm.

"Do that again, and I'll break your neck," he hisses venomously.

I shake my head to clear it and then try to assess the situation I am in. My face is throbbing where he hit me, but to my surprise, I am not scared...I'm pissed. How dare he? Who the fuck does he think he is? I refuse to let him bully me again or allow him to infiltrate my dreams and cause me to withdraw from people, from Lucien. I decide to try another tactic. I get close in front of him, and before he has a chance to react, I knee him in the balls. He grunts and drops to the ground, but my victory is short lived because the men he was at the mall with approach me from behind.

"Is this the sniveling little nark who had Sky dragged through the woods and then dropped him off at jail?" I hear a deep voice say behind me.

Oh shit. I turn around and see three very large men with tattoos covering their hands, arms and necks. They're in bikers gear, wearing leather jackets and tattered jeans that hang low on their hips and slouch over black leather boots adorned with spikes.

"Yes, that's her," one of them says, smiling evilly at me. His teeth are crooked and yellow, probably from smoking too many cigarettes. "What shall we do with the little princess, eh?"

"Leave me alone," I hiss, staring at the three men with as much bravado as I can muster.

"Not gonna do that princess," yellow teeth says to me. "If nothing else, you gotta apologize to old Sky here for busting him up and throwing him in the clink."

"I'm not apologizing for shit," I spit at them, "HE'S the one that owes ME an apology for trying to kill me."

"And I'm gonna finish the job you little cunt," I hear Skylar growl behind me. When I turn toward him, I barely manage to see his fist heading toward my face, I hear a crack, and then everything goes dark.
