Female Reader x Male Monster
Hiro stared down at the gift in his hands, at first unsure totally what it was. All he knew was that your big eyes were staring up at him. Excited anticipation had been welling up for god knows how long.
He licked his lips and cleared his throat to buy himself a little time. As his lips twisted into a crooked smile and he held it up with a little jiggle. "Wow, thank you."
"Well put it on!" You came towards him through the paper and boxes and you sat beside him. You take the lump of strange material and unfolding it some more. You held it up and opened it.
"Lift your arms," you instructed.
"Oh, honey-" he started to growl but looking at you he didn't have the balls to tell you he had no idea what was going on.
He submitted and lifted his arms. He let you pull your Frankenstein creation over his head. His arm slipped into sleeves and he understood that it was some sort of sweater. Yet there seemed too much material in some places and too little in others.
You had agreed ages ago, around the beginning of fall, that you would each make each other's Christmas gifts. It was your first Christmas together in your own home and you said you wanted to make it special.
"Well?" You bounced excitedly in front of him. "Show it off, walk the catwalk," you blushed and giggled.
The color was a little strange, a strange sort of sandy salmon with patches of greasy green. Hiro had always assumed you were a lady of taste and sophistication. But whatever this was, he felt was something unfit for anyone with eyes. He stood up, part of the sweater sagging down around his chest like he was supposed to have bigger bosoms. The back was tight, yet the front too big. One side felt like it was trying to crawl up his side. There was also a strange hanging lump of material around his neck. Hiro wondered if you had attempted a hood. Maybe a turtleneck?
He then looked down, seeing your expression had changed as he had attempted to adjust himself. You were trying to smile still, but there was a look of horrible defeat on your face. Your fists clenched on your pajama bottoms. Your bottom lip began to tremble as you tried to hold your once excited expression.
"Take it off," you murmur before Hiro could say anything. You get up and attempt to pull it off of him.
"Honey," he growled, catching your hands as you tugged at your creation. "Please, hold still."
You drop your act and a scowl replaces your smile. Your cheeks are red with embarrassment and anger. Your eyes welling up with disappointment. "It sucks. Say it."
"Honey." He grabs your arms and gives you a small shake. "Yes, it sucks," he growls and your eyes widen. Your fingers go limp as you stare up at him as if he had just slapped you.
A soft, pitiful whisper escaped your lips. So it was true after all. It really was awful
"It's awful!" Hiro growls. "But you made it right?" He tilts his head, his eyes soft on you. "How long did this take you?" He lifts your chin so you look at him.
"Since summer," you mumble. You cast your eyes down as you admitted your shame. "At first it was going to be your birthday present. Then when I couldn't finish I decided to suggest the handmade Christmas gifts." You sniffle and rub your eyes. "And well...I thought it looked fine but now..." You screw up your mouth in a frown and huff. "Well, you said so yourself! It sucks!" You shove at him but he still holds you.
"You worked on it so hard and for so long," he growled. "It's got a lot of love to it. So no matter what, I...appreciate it."
You glare up at him. "Yuu hesitated."
