You had just gotten out of work and were sitting on the curb near your favorite food truck. They served the best banh-mi, so you were always there whenever you could afford it. After having worked such a long shift with only a handful of goldfish crackers to snack on, you had been dreaming about the pork banh-mi all day. All of the sudden, as you're eating, you feel hot breath on you. Turning, you see a small corgi eagerly looking at you and then the food in your mitts.

"Can I help you?" You say with a mouth full.

The corgi happily prances his feet before barking just once.

"No, this is mine. Buy your own." You look around to see if there was anyone coming to claim him. His tag was also worn and faded so you could barely read out his name which was Gouda. You couldn't help but giggle, his coloring did make him look like a big hunk of gouda.

You got a rope from the food truck and tied it to Gouda's collar and walked with him around the park to see if you could find his owner. Instead you ended up having to take Gouda home, which wasn't a bad thing. Gouda was extremely well behaved, if only a little demanding for food. You bought some dog food for him and set him up nicely in your place. While he was with you, he would live in the lap of luxury.

You hadn't had a dog for a while, not since moving for your job. But back home, you had worked with your family training dogs. You house was always filled with dogs, puppies, big ones, small ones, all sorts. So you started to see if Gouda knew any tricks. He knew the basic few, sit, stay, shake, but beyond that he was a blank canvas.

You got posters made and started posting them around the park where you found Gouda. Meanwhile, you weren't ashamed to make Gouda your buddy. You took him on walks and started teaching him a few tricks, one of which was trying to get him to bounce through a hoop.

One day your get a phone call, and it's Gouda's owner.

"I've been worried sick! I lost him Tuesday," he sounds so stressed out.

"It's ok, I found him Tuesday."

The man goes quiet on the other end. "Was it at the banh-mi truck?" He snarls.

You try not to laugh, this sounds like a regular occurrence for him. "Yeah. I was trying to eat and all of a sudden-"

"He's breathing down your neck."

"Yes!" You stop yourself. "Sorry. Uhm, about how long was he out of your sight between the time he was with you and found me?"

"Five minutes!" The man scoffs. "I am so sorry he's been mooching off you."

"It's ok, I'm just glad we were able to find you," you sigh. "Gouda's a sweetheart, he's given me no issue."

"I'm glad you can say that," he chuckles. "When can I get him back?"

"We were just about to head to the park for a walk, why don't you meet us by the food truck so it all comes full circle?"

"I'll buy your lunch if you're hungry," he sighs. "My names Wourik, by the way."

You roll the name on your tongue, it sounds different but kind of cool all the same. "Ok. I'll see you there."

You pack up Gouda and head out. Gouda trots along, happy as can be. Once you get to the park you go over to the food trucks to wait. You look around, expecting someone to walk up or for Gouda to get excited about his master. Gouda, instead, is walking circles around you. The leash has bound up your legs, but you see the massive guy coming towards you.

No wonder Wourik sounded so different, he's an orc. His arms at the size of your thighs and probably much more solid. He's wearing glasses and his hair is tied back away from his face. His deep green skin is covered with dark freckles, especially on his face.
