Kuno the Elf-Orc

Your hometown holds an annual pub crawl that has become a little bit famous thanks to social media. The town was founded by Orcs ages ago, and as such, a large number of pubs have always been the norm. The crawl started when your grandfather was a young man, and others like him charted it meticulously. Back in those days it was seen as a triathlon, a feat of strength and a test of endurance. Even for the Orcs it was seen as a challenge, and one they took very seriously. As the years went on it became less intense, and more of a 'just get to the end' sort of thing.

Nowadays it was a chance for pubs to try out their new brews, snack foods, and for the entire town to make a quick buck on all the tourists coming in. Even though your grandfather had been one of the founding members of the crawl, you had never joined in on it. It seemed that every year since you came of age, you had to go away or were indisposed.

The last few years you had been struggling to save a relationship as sunk like the Titanic. You planned trips and special things for your now-ex that were all for naught. You broke up a few months ago, and moved back home where you felt safe. Right now, the pub crawl felt like the perfect opportunity to let loose.

You were over at your best friend's place while she got ready. She lived in a huge house, usually by herself; most of her family was either travelling or had moved away, so you had been staying with her in one of the empty rooms.

Elva was half orc and half elf, but wholly and utterly beautiful like the rest of her family. She was tall and shapely, but also muscular. Back in school she was the girl everyone wanted to get with or wanted to be. The two of you had been friends since you were babies, and you always felt lucky to be friends with someone like her. Her father was an elf who had moved to town in order to start a restaurant, and fell in love with Elva's mother, an Orc, at first sight.

"I'll be ready soon!" Elva dashes out of the bathroom naked while you were looking through a stack of old comics.

"Take your time." You placed the comics aside and went to check your makeup in the mirror. You hadn't really done much, just enough to feel good about yourself and look less like a cave person.

"Oh yeah!" Elva stuck her head out of the closet. "My brother said he'd try to meet up with us during the crawl."

You turn suddenly towards Elva with a stunned look in your eye. "Kuno?" You gasp. "Kuno is in town?"

Elva is adjusting her boobs in the cups of her bra. "Yup! He got in last night but he was staying at a hotel near the airport." She frowns at the bra and arranges it before slapping on a shirt.

"I haven't seen him in ages-" you mumble in shock.

"That's what he said. He's really excited to see you," Elva yells from inside her closet.

You sit back down for a moment as your heart sputters and jerks in your chest. Back in school, you and Kuno had been something of an item. But since Elva was your best friend, the two of you had kept it secret. You stole kisses during sleepovers, met in dark hallways to talk, hid in the gym to make out.

At the time, Kuno was getting ready to go to college and wanted to keep the relationship going, but doing so meant that you would have to go public with it. You were terrified about possibly losing your best friend, so you decided to break up with Kuno. You didn't hear much from him after that, only secondhand stories from Elva and her family.

It was something you always regretted, and you hated how you had treated Kuno. He had been the perfect boyfriend, always so sweet and caring, and like Elva, he was beautiful. Tall and athletic, his frame was lean and trim. His skin was a pale bluish green and his eyes were a vibrant violet. It's been years since the breakup, and surely he hasn't held a grudge. But your guilt remains as a cold lump in your gut.
