Female Reader x Male Monster
"I thought you said you were going on a diet?" Your coworker smirks as she sits down at the lunch table with you.
You frown, setting down the lunch you had so been looking forward to all week. It was to be your one little indulgence all week, and she comes in and ruins it. "I-I am," you reply meekly, looking over the pasta which had once been a gold mine was now a pile of ash in your eyes.
"You must have a really big dessert then if you're eating a meal like that," she continues to chuckle as she pulls out her lunch, which is not any better than the one you're eating.
You want to throw to table or at least kick her shin. She's always so pretty and perfect and polished without ever trying. She could eat fifty pasta specials and never ever gain weight. You mention you're cutting down on portions and not drinking sodas as you try to sort out your regular diet and all of a sudden she's watching you like a hawk, always cawing and cackling at every meal you bring out. You don't know why she's bringing so much attention to you.
"She can eat what she wants," another coworker comes out from the table behind the vending machines. "Why does it matter to you?" He tilts his head.
The other opens and closes her mouth as he tries to find an excuse. "Well! I'm just trying to help her. I know how hard dieting can be and I-"
"Do you?" He asks, insisting.
She frowns, "I don't have to talk to you." She gathers up her lunch and leaves the room.
"Don't let her ruin your day," he murmurs to you. "She has just as much self-doubt as you do."
You look up at him, you don't really recognize him, then again you're mainly in your cubicle on the computer all day. You're lucky if you see anyone outside your department.
"I really don't think she ever doubts herself," you say, touching your fingers to your chubby cheek.
"She does, or she wouldn't notice you trying to do something good for yourself." He sits down and you look down at your meal.
"Well, maybe," you mutter shyly.
"Sorry," he chuckles nervously. "It just got my goat today was all. I'll leave you be." He stands up and leaves. You turn and watch him as he leaves, wondering where in the office he worked. You return to your meal, a little more comfortable eating it now that she had been chased away.
The next day when you go to get your lunch you see the same guy sitting behind the vending machines like yesterday. He's going through the newspaper, not paying attention to anyone who comes or goes.
You sit down in front of him, taking measures to assure the other coworker won't bother you. He glances up then and for a moment you think you've made a mistake. In the instant he turns a page in the paper, his face looks...off, almost like there was a monster sitting there. But as he closes it and lays it on the table, he looks normal.
"Is this...ok?" You blink a few times to make sure your eyes are working right.
He smiles, "Go ahead," he adjusts his rather thick glasses on the bridge of his nose. "Not having any troubles today are you?"
"I suppose I sat here to avoid them," you murmur as you pull out your lunch.
"Is that all?" he asks.
You look at your small portions and nod. "Yeah. This is what the website said."
He glances aside and the other one comes in, she looks at you then at who you're sitting with and she turns her nose up in the air.
"What'd you do to her?" You ask.
