I grin as I leaned on the wall and watched the doorway of the Great Hall. It was December and no one knew what I had done, not yet at least. I was waiting to see who the first person would be to fall into my trap

"Bud," I turn my head and watched as Sirius came over to me. He and I hadn't been alone since I mentioned I fancied him. I think I might have scared him but I wasn't going to push him. I was going to let him choose what he wanted to do, "What are you doing over here? And why are you grinning like that?"

Chuckling I put my finger to my lips signaling to him to be quiet then motion to the doorway. He frowns but says nothing as he turns to the Great Hall. My grin only widened as I saw Lily and James coming around the corner. James was showing her something, probably about their Perfect duties. They both turned into the Great Hall without looking and then ended up hitting an inviable wall.

"What the?" James looks around before looking at Sirius and me and frowns, "What did you two do?" Sirius raises his hands in surrender then points to me. I grin and wave as Lily looks at me with a frown

"Bud, what is this?"

"Well, my lovely sister. That is all on me," I wanted full credit for it, "As you can see I set a prank up all by myself. If you will look up you will see a very poisonous plant that is a big Christmas tradition"

They both look up and Lily gasps and covers her mouth while James looked surprised. They both look back at me as I keep talking and notice a few students standing around listening, "That little plant will vanish only after you both kiss then it will appear somewhere random and way. Any two people caught under it will be trapped there until they kiss. Try as you all might no one can get free without a kiss nor can anyone make that little red plant vanish without kissing the other person. You just happened to be the  first pair trapped under there together"

"Bud! You remover this, this instant!" Lily shouts as she blushes

"Sorry, Lily cant!" I grin at her before looking to James, "It's her first kiss so make it worth it for her"

James looked torn. I knew he was excited about kissing Lily but I also knew he didn't want to force her, "Come on Bud just take it down"

"I can't," I shrug at them, "It took way too many spells, charms, and curses to get that bloody thing to work. No way I'm wasting all that hard work. Now if you excuse me I need to get to Transfiguration class. Oh, and as long as you both are stuck there no one else can walk through the doorway so....have fun!"

I walk away ignoring Lily's shouts and happily walk off to class. I knew she would be mad at me but honestly, they were gonna end up together anyway so why not try to help James out a bit?

James did eventually kiss Lily and Lily was furious with me. After that word spread through the whole school very quickly however it took 3 more pairs of people getting trapped to fully believe it. What no one knew was it didn't matter if you were walking alone or not. If you ended up walking under the mistletoe you had to kiss the next person who walked under it as well. From what I heard Filch had to kiss a 7th year girl because of that and after that he and every Professor became very aware of the ceiling. Students did too yet many still ended up trapped. It was funny really because it was one plant that would just appear in the doorway of some random place in the school. Another thing no one knew was after December the plant would vanish till next December. I wouldn't be mean and have it out year around

"I gotta say," I look up from the book I was reading to look at Sirius who was grinning at me, "That prank of yours is brilliant. Potions was canceled today because the mistletoe is above Slughorn's doorway and he refuses to leave his room"

"That may not be me," I chuckle a bit as I watch him sit down, "I heard some students have put fake ones up around the school to mess with other students"

"Ya," he smirks at me, "I put the one above Slughorn's door"

I laugh at that and shake my head, "You know mine will vanish once December is over with and won't come back till next December"

"What?" He looked shocked at that and a bit sad, "But why?"

"Because more than 1 month would get old and annoying. Besides, this way every year as new students come in they get to enjoy the surprise every December"

He thinks about it for a moment before shrugging the nodding, "Ok, that makes sense"

I nod once before looking back at my book and writing down an answer for some Charms homework I have. Because the winter ball, is being held over Christmas break and it's for anyone who wants to stay at Hogwarts over the break, many people were starting to get distracted and forget about the mistletoe along with all the fakes ones it throws everyone off so more people have started getting trapped the past few days

"You staying over the break?"

"Yes," I flip to the next page in the book, "Lily is staying and going to the dance with a group of her friends. I'm taking pictures of them throughout the night"

"So you're going just to take pictures of your sister?"

I look up to see Sirius frowning at me, "Yes, I know she will love the pictures, especially down the road. Besides, I want to go to the dance even if it's to people watch. After all, I wouldn't enjoy myself if I asked a girl to go with me nor would the girl have fun, and no way any guy would go with me as my date so," I shrug a big, "Picture boy sounds good for me"

He frowns and looks down at the table and I could tell he was putting a wall up. I know my confession threw him off and he didn't know how to deal with it

"Bud......I cant-"

"It's ok," I cut him off which makes him look back at me as I smile at him softly, "I knew there was a chance you wouldn't feel the same. I would never try anything with you without your permission. If you want we can pretend I never said anything and just go back to being friends"

He kept frowning but said nothing as he looked back at the table. He didn't say anything else so I went back to my homework and tried to ignore the ache in my heart
