HADES' P. O. V

I was taken aback by Tanda's decision to let Deth follow his heart. Even after he finally left, I remained stunned by the cake lover's old geezer.

"Why?" I asked and looked at him.

"If something bad happens to Luna, I will lose your brother for the second time. This time, hindi ko na alam kung paano pa siya ibabalik sa akin...sa atin," Tanda replied while his gaze was still fixated on the door Deth had just opened.

My eyes widened in panic as I realized the danger that awaits Deth outside. Wala na ako para protektahan siya. Fuck. Madali akong tumakbo papunta sa pinto. Hindi ko pa ito tuluyang nabubuksan nang magsalita ang matanda.

"Hades, don't."

Ano? Hahayaan niya na lang ang anak niyang harapin ang mga gago sa labas?!

Galit na nilingon ko siya at malalaking hakbang na nilapitan. Nang mapag-isang hakbang ko na ang distansya namin ay kinwelyuhan ko siya. "What if Eagle's men kill him?" I asked, my worry growing for my brother's safety. His love for Luna is putting him dangerously close to death. "Hindi niya kayang mag-isa. He ordered that none of the Dark students should leave until nine o'clock. What if they obey him?"

"I doubt that," Tanda replied confidently. Binitiwan ko siya at umatras. He ran his hand through his hair and gripped it tightly. Natawa siya. "They'll definitely help Deth. Eagle ordered that if dark students help Deth, his men are only to use daggers. He's still wary of outnumbering the Dark students with lethal force."

Pinigilan niya ako lumabas dahil alam niyang tutulungan naman ito ng mga kaibigan nito. Kung ako kasi ang lalabas at makita ako ni Denver, Knoxx, lalo na si Elisse ay makarating ito kay Eagle.

"Still, he might get shot before his friends come to rescue him! Kung hindi niya ako kasama kanina, pinaputukan na siya ng mga 'yon!"

"Do you really think I will let him step outside kung alam kong mababaril siya?" He let out a bitter, sarcastic laugh. "Right before you came in, I got a call from Eagle," he said, his tone and face became serious. "Deth won't face gunfire when he steps outside. I managed to manipulate him again. I told him na hindi dapat maging madali ang pagkamatay ni Deth lalo na't ang kasalanan nito ay malinaw na pagtra-traydor kay Elisse—sa amin. That's why ang ibinabang utos niya ay..." he trailed off, "Deth must be beaten to death. I've already informed Joaquin, so they already know about this. Deth doesn't know about this. Hindi niya man lang naisip na bago niya pa mapuntahan sina Luna, mababaril na siya." He sighed heavily and massaged his temple. "This test wasn't all about Deth. Pati raw si Knoxx ay ite-test niya na. If he does a thing he doesn't like, he's out of the mission. They are both under Elisse's surveillance."

He's out of his mind but I understand why. When someone we deeply care about is in danger, everything else becomes insignificant or  other concern disappears, even our own life. Our thoughts become blurry, and all we can see is the person we need to save. In my case, my feelings become insignificant when it comes to Seah's safety. I can handle the pain of seeing her with another man than seeing her name written in a tomb because of my selfishness.

He nodded sadly and then opened his laptop. Tinalikuran ko na siya ulit. I still need to check on Deth and see if his classmates would help him. If they didn't, I'd have no choice but to step in. Just as I reached for the doorknob again, I heard a soft laugh behind me, making me turn back to look back at him.

"Looks like I was right—they're coming to save our fucking assess." Nakangiting iniharap niya sa akin ang laptop niya. My eyes widened as I saw the Dark students already engaged in a fierce battle with Eagle's men. I moved closer to the screen, studying the footage intently.
