Chapter 29 The Fusing Maestras!

After Katrina and Vivian's victories, the stadium lights swung back toward the arena. The energy was electric as the next two duelists stepped forward.

"Now for our next match!" Nico Smiley announced, throwing his arm wide to the roaring crowd. "Representing Leo Duel School, it's Masumi Kotsu! And from You Show Duel School—Hiiragi Yuzu!"

The audience's cheer grew louder as the two duelists strode into the spotlight.

Masumi crossed her arms, her gaze firm. "This time, I'll get my revenge, Yuzu."

Yuzu's eyes glinted with determination. "We'll see about that. In this duel, I'll show you a different me from the one you faced before!"

Masumi's lips curved faintly. "Fine by me. This is a tournament match, after all. It wouldn't feel right if you didn't bring everything you've got."

From the stands, Shuzo leapt to his feet, cupping his hands around his mouth. "Go, Yuzu! Burn hot, burn bright—hot-blooded style!"

Reisho leaned back casually in his seat beside Yuni, watching the exchange below. "Heh. This duel looks like it's going to be interesting."

Yuni shot him a look. "Aren't you supposed to be watching with Reiji?"

Reisho waved it off with a small grin. "Relax. He and Reira can handle themselves."

Not far away, Sora noticed Shun silently standing off to the side, his eyes locked on the field. Sora smirked knowingly.

Back on the arena floor, Nico raised his arm toward the giant screen. "First up is the Action Field selection! The system will now choose at random... Action Field on! Field Magic—Infinite Bridge, activate!"

The stadium shook as massive railways of crisscrossing steel walkways burst from the ground, stretching across the air and intertwining like a web of bridges. The dueling platforms rose with a hiss of machinery, suspending the duelists far above the ground.

Yuya tightened his grip on the railing. "This field, huh... one wrong step, and it's a straight drop into the abyss."

Ron nodded, eyes narrowing. "Yeah. The pressure's real. Not just the duel, but the balance too."

Nico's voice carried over the arena, hyping up the tension. "Now, which of these budding Junior Youth Duelists will bloom on this nerve-racking battlefield?!"

The duelists raised their Duel Disks, and with the start-of-duel chant echoing around them, the Action Cards scattered across the lattice of bridges. (Yuzu:4000) (Masumi:4000)

"I'll be going first," Masumi declared, sliding her card into place. "I activate the Spell Card—Gem-Knight Fusion!"

The card glimmered across the field, scattering light like shards of crystal. "With this, I can Fusion Summon using Gem-Knight monsters from my hand!"

From the stands, Yuzu muttered under her breath, tightening her fist. "Just like I thought. She's going straight for a Hand Fusion on her opening move, just like last time."

Masumi raised her arm high. "I fuse Gem-Knight Sapphire, Gem-Knight Crystal, and Gem-Knight Garnet from my hand! Strong-willed blue! Crimson truth! Eye of quartz! Merge together in a whirlpool of dazzling light!"

A radiant vortex of gems and crystal shards swirled into existence, engulfing the three monsters. Masumi pointed toward the arena. "Fusion Summon! Appear now—one who illuminates everything with its supreme brilliance! Gem-Knight Master Diamond!"

A massive knight of shining silver armor descended, its jeweled chestplate gleaming under the stadium lights. (ATK:2900/DEF:2500/Level 9)
