Kai stared at the clock at the bottom of her laptop screen, displaying the time and date. It was Thursday, first block class was draining her.
She was scared she wasn't going to hit the deadline that week for English class. "Kai," Tyler whispered, she whipped her head toward him, seeing the sweet smile he always has with her gone.
She gave him a questioning look, as he tossed a folded note card to her. She tried to catch it in the air, but it went between her hands to land in her lap. He chuckled, hand covering his mouth to not be too loud. Kai scoffed at her skills. Maybe the lack of a father was the reason for not being able to catch.
Dismissing her thought, she picked it up to open it. A smile spread on her face, as she picked up the lead pencil on her desk, checking the 'yes' box to toss it back to him. He caught it in the air with one hand, opening it like that as he snickered at Kai. Showing he had skills.
Kai rolled her eyes as he held a chuckle in, seeing her answer as she was free that Monday, which was going to be labor day.
Kai dug her feet into the floor to roll over toward him. "You suck at catching." He stated.
"Cause I don't have a father," Kai fought back, as he choked on air trying to hold in his laugh, kids who heard it held in their laugh too.
The girl smiled, feeling happy. The man that she was going to confess to, by the end of the week...maybe a month? She was hoping to do it as quickly as possible. Wanting to show that she was ready, but her anxiety always doubled when she tried to stutter out the words that she knew couldn't come out.
Words that actually would be considered slightly good grammar, then a first-grader confessing that she has feelings.
Kai pushed away to her side, going back to typing.
...
"Kai, pay attention." Aponi pressed the girl's side, making the tan girl jump and look over to see her friend.
She chuckled, "Sorry." Kai looked down at the table. She wanted to get involved yes, but she was thinking about confessions.
"Okay, we're done with the plot review, how about the main cast of characters?" He asked.
"Sure." Kai groaned, rising from her chair. "I have to go to the restroom, I'll be back." She muttered, going to the teacher to ask and had the go-ahead. She walked out, hand holding her stomach. Kai never felt that type of pain before.
She leaned on the short wall separating the common area and the hallway. She slid down, feeling her head blur. "Holy fuck." She pushed off the wall and rushed to the bathroom, happy no one was there she pushed the door open, throwing up.
Gagging while leaning over, she pulled her hair back, not wanting chunks in her hair. She dropped to the ground, leaning on the wall, as she took some shaky breaths.
Kai got off the ground, flushed the toilet, and walked out to the sink washing her hands and splashing her face. Take a paper towel to wipe it off. She walked out, going to the fountain across the hall to drink the water.
"Hey Kai." She looked over seeing a group of kids from Physics. "You good?"
She gave a weak smile. "Yeah, just been out of it for the past week." She chuckled. "Are you three skipping class?" She questioned.
They laughed, nodding slowly showing they were doing so. After talking for a hot minute, she walked away to go to class.
Kai walked in and went to her desk to talk with her friends.
...
"Kai, are you going to eat your tater tods?" Kai turned to Myra shaking her head in denial as she gave it to Myra.
Kai leaned on Myra. "My stomach is killing me." She groaned.
Myra put her food in her mouth. "Imagine you're pregnant." Ryllie joked.
"What?! No way, we take precautions...sometimes." She blushed.
The group turned to look at one another. "Maybe you should take a test? No harm in doing so." Micheal smiled.
"Bro, even if I was prego, what would I even do? I live by working, not having relaxation." Kai pointed out, crossing her arms defensively at the idea.
It was true though, goes to school, works, and is a teacher aide on top of that, and she is serious about getting into a relationship with Tyler, so that will keep her busy.
She doesn't have one moment for herself, if she did, she would choose to stay home with family, or to see Tyler next door. And it's mostly the second option.
But thinking about the symptoms she's having, it would make sense if it was that. 'But wouldn't I get symptoms later, and not early? The first time they did it, was nearly 3 weeks ago.'
Kai dismissed her friend's outlandish words, thinking maybe she had a cold. Food poisoning from Texas Roadhouse was also an option.
But not pregnancy, right? Kids are not in her mind right now.
It would maybe, but she had some luck that she wouldn't get knocked up on her first time with Tyler. Though he did...release it inside her more times than enough. That it would be possible.
"Even if I was, which I'm not, what would I even say to Tyler, we aren't even dating, isn't that like, baby trapping?"
They all snapped to look at her. "You guys aren't dating yet?!"
"Is yelling necessary when I'm here?"
"I'm going to talk with him, this is so disappointing," Micheal muttered. Aponi nodded in agreement.
Kai flinched. "Don't, I was wanting to ask him out, by this month." She chuckled.
Micheal smiled softly, taking her hand. "If you were pregnant, Tyler wouldn't feel trapped. He loves you remember?"
The girl looked at her friend, smiling. "I'm not, let's keep that in mind." She stated to her friends.
