Michael pulled Lily up and set her in the back of the truck, joining her.
"Aren't you sitting in the front?" Kai asked, confused, holding her phone as she was previously checking the time.
Micheal looked over to Lilly, the little girl caught one. "I like big brother sitting with me." She pointed out, holding Micheal's arm, pouting cutely.
"Oh, okay." Kai hopped in the front. Micheal shut the small window between the front and back. Thanking the gods as there was a small curtain there.
Tyler noticed, holding back his smile as he got in. They buckled up and Tyler started the truck, pulling out.
He was going to reward the two kids later when they got home. Thanking them in his mind for this opportunity.
"So." Kai cleared her throat, glancing at Tyler. "Um, how long have you had this truck?" She questioned, though questioning if the question was weird.
Tyler gave a genuine laugh, holding the wheel with one hand. "Since I was 13, I had the body of the truck and had to get everything else. It was a pain to build it, but it was fun and worth the time and money." Tyler stated.
Kai nodded, embarrassment taking over her. She never was good at conversation starters, just hopped in when she could if the other person was the starter type.
Tyler knew this, admittedly wanting to see her flustered. She looked around, trying to find something to talk about, but didn't want to seem weird.
"Did you always want to be a teacher?" She asked, looking at him, his eyes stayed on the road, though wanting to look at her badly. He stared at the boring road to be good.
"No, I did because my dad needed help with classes since he's old and all." The two chuckled at it. "I was originally supposed to do this job for a year," Tyler added.
Kai looked to the front. "What changed your mind?"
He stopped at the red light, turning to face her. She glanced at him to see his attention on her. They stared at one another. "You."
"Me?"
"Yeah, I just, didn't want to leave when I saw you, so I requested to stay here for last year, and I heard you were going to graduate this year. So I'm staying for this year." He smiled.
Kai chuckled as he started to drive when the red turned green. "Ya know, some people would call that stalking." Kai smiled.
"What, no I just-" Kai laughed, her hand resting on his arm. He shivered, feeling her touch.
"I'm kidding, calm down." She giggled, he glanced at her and looked back at the road.
"So, when this year is over, what are you going to do?"
"Well, I've been postponing being a doctor. So that." He stated.
Kai kept her hand on him. "Doctor Lee." She muttered, giggling as she looked at him.
He smiled, taking her hand in his. "What about you, plans?"
"Honestly I don't know at all. I've been working nonstop since I got my job last year." She groaned, thinking about the hell she was at once.
"McDonald's?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's a good job sometimes. But when you get soda thrown at you for the second time and have to deal with that damn ice machine getting clogged up in the middle of the shift it gets annoying." Kai grumbled, not happy with her experience.
He nodded as she kept on ranting about everyone, but then realized she's been talking for a good ten minutes. "Well, enough of McDonald's." She blushed. "What was your first job?" Kai asked.
"Hm, oh it was actually Subway." He stated. "Never was busy, and it was kinda slow." He shrugged.
"How's your wrist." He asked, looking at the other hand, the one he wasn't holding.
"Eh, it's fine. I've dealt with wrist pains before." Kai shrugged.
"Doesn't make me feel less worried." He had a worried expression. Thinking about her in the worst condition hurt him.
Kai shrugged, looking at her wrist. "It doesn't hurt."
He smiled.
Kai's eyes laid on him. She bit her lip, feeling her head go fuzzy for a moment.
He combed his hair back, but it slowly fell to the way he normally had it, which was parted on the side.
His lips parted slightly, and his blue eyes focused on the view in front of him.
His hand warmed hers easily. Her cold hand enjoyed his warmth more. 'I wonder.' Her eyes fell down on his body. 'How warn is he, his whole body.'
Kai flinched, looking out the passenger window near her.
Having Tyler's feelings toward her, she could only think of him. His feelings for her.
She wanted to ask what he thought of her really. But she didn't want to be disappointed by the response. She wanted to know what she looked like in his eyes.
Did he see her as a normal person or a weird person who he just thought was interesting?
Kai sighed, her eyes tracing back to him like he owns her stare.
They fell silent as they drove past the high school to go to the daycare.
Arriving there, Lilly jumped out, waving bye as she rushed to her friends.
Kai noticed Tyler's attention on Lilly, a smile spreading on his face. She couldn't help but smile, putting her focus on Lily once more.
They drove to the school, Michael happily jumped out as the two stayed in the truck.
Cars around them were empty.
They were alone again.
"You can go out." He notified her.
"You want me to go?" She asked, Tyler turned to her to see her smug look.
"Well, I don't want you to be..." He didn't finish what he was saying.
Kai chuckled. "Seen with each other when we go in?"
"Mr. Lee." Kai's eye twitched, seeing Tyler's attention go to the vice principal, as he smiled.
The woman looked at the girl in the car. "Oh, Kai. What are you doing with Mr. Lee?" The woman asked snappily.
Mrs.Hooker goes by Mrs.H.
Many people have reported her for harassing them—many people meaning boys. She has a reputation.
"Missed the bus, and he's my neighbor." Kai chuckled, her hand rubbing her thigh. "I'll get going. Thanks, Mr.Lee." She tried to unbuckle it, but it wasn't coming to lose.
Tyler sighed-not irritated-a smile on his face. His body turned away from Mrs.H, his fingers pressing down harshly on the button and it popped out. The seat belt let her go.
"Don't be late to class Kai." She just waved, walking away. Her bus normal gets on drove off, going to the middle school. Her friends notice her, waiting for her to get to them.
"You look irritated," Myra stated.
Kai jumped slightly, looking over at the truck she was at a while ago.
"It doesn't matter."
She turned away from them, storming off to school. "Hm?" The group looked at the two people in the parking lot, then back to her.
"Oh shit!" Myra shouted, excited. Then the group knew what was happening.
