TW: Naughty Kat, immature Cathy, icr but there shouldn't be any swearing in this one (for once), Jane tells the kids off

"Kat, it's time for bed!" Jane called from living the room to Kat, who was sitting at the dining table, watching YouTubes of funny cats.

"But Janeee," she stretched, "It's only ten o'clock!"

"No Kat, it's eleven. And tomorrow's a big day with Catherine coming back from Seattle."

"But Janeee," Kat tried again, her eyes still glued to the screen of the cats, the colourful screen lighting up her eyes. "You're not my mum!"

"You're too immature to parent yourself, Kat, so here we are. Now off you go."

"Ugh fine."

She closed the window and shut the computer.

"Good night, everyone," she called, although it was only Cathy in the room. She skipped up the stairs.

Kat was like a seven-year-old. Nothing ever made her upset for long.

However, being a seven-year-old, of course, she was slightly mischievous. Just slightly. Not enough to get on the naughty list (she hoped).

After getting ready for bed, she slipped under the covers, pretending to be asleep.

"Good night," Jane whispered as she slipped in beside Kat, kissing her forehead as she flicked the light switch off. At least she wasn't hugging her like normal, so it would be easy for her to slip out.

Half an hour later, Kat was certain that Jane had fallen asleep. Gently pulling the duvet and slipping out, she tiptoed out the room and down the stairs, hoping that no one would hear her. Skipping down the stairs, she made her way to the kitchen, switching on her phone flashlight.

Well, she was about to, but then she heard a noise. A sigh.

Kat jumped (literally), and pulled her phone to her chest, recoiling backwards.

"Hello? Who's here?" she whispered, stepping backwards as she spoke. No one answered her, but she heard more breathing. She tried to sound like Jane, and her impression was good enough.

"Hello?" she called again, doing her best to sound like Jane, her elder, who had a much sterner voice to intimidate others.

Little did she know that only she and Cathy were the ones intimidated by her, but it's better if she didn't know that.

Since no one was replying to Kat and her deep scary voice, she decided to go ahead with her plans as before. She tiptoed up to the fridge and reached her hand over the top of it to grab the biscuit tin. After feeling around for what felt like ages, she concluded that it wasn't there. Maybe Cathy took them whilst she was watching Netflix on her laptop. She never puts anything back where it was initially, Kat thought, so it must be somewhere else.

To look around further, Kat had to sacrifice her disguise and switched the light on. If Jane or Anna came down, she had many excuses she could use- she left her phone, she heard someone walking about, she forgot to lock the front door (one of her only chores), and the list goes on because Kat was a seasoned criminal.

Well, criminal makes her sound like she has power and an aura around her, but to everyone else, she was Kat, the reincarnated queen who, aged twenty, still didn't have a driving licence.

As she flicked the light on, there was a scream. Not Kat's, but a more high-pitched yell.

"Cathy?"

Kat could recognise that voice from anywhere, and she knew that it had to be her older cousin, Cathy, who she had heard. But what was she doing downstairs?

"Kat?" she heard a small whimper coming from underneath the table. She kneeled to the floor and squinted her eyes to find Cathy curled up with the biscuit tin.

"Hey! My biscuits!" Kat snatched them away from her and held them to her chest closely, before reaching out her hand to help Cathy from underneath the table.

"What were you doing down there?"

"Heard you coming down, thought it was Jane, snuck under so she wouldn't see me.

"I heard you."

"I know, I blew it."

"Thanks for stealing my biscuits. I risked my entire life to get some, and when they weren't there I had a panic attack!"

"Don't be dramatic. You did not. I heard you too! You tried to make yourself sound like Jane!"

"And you bought it! You got so scared that you hid under the table!"

"Okay, what's going on here?"

The girls' heads turned towards the new voice, to find Jane standing before them, staring at them sternly, and once again, disappointed in them.

"We'll talk about it tomorrow morning. Go upstairs and go to sleep. Not a word from either of you."

They obeyed silently, dreading the next day to come.

That was just Cathy. Kat was dreading Jane sleeping next to her for the rest of the night. Of course, there would be no sleeping, just a solid interrogation.
