"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Aimie asked when Allegra left the house for Collette's.

"What did you mean when you said that I do drugs?"

"I- I thought you'd changed. Did the punishment not work?"

"No, but that's the point. I don't understand why drugs are in all of this. I'm not a drug dealer. I thought you had another reason for being angry with me."

"What's your other reason?"

"No, you first need to tell me why you thought I'm on drugs!"

"Your head said they caught you in the school bathrooms."

"Alone or with someone?"

"Another person... I think?"

Ludo turned a deep plum colour, sliding down in her chair.

"I thought you were telling me off for my geography test result."

"Well, what did you get?"

"Seventy-nine percent."

"That's... not great but it isn't bad. If someone told me that you scored eighty percent, I wouldn't necessarily be angry with you at all. Seventy-nine isn't far from."

"So you're angry with me because apparently, I was... smoking at school?"

"Yes."

"No one you know even smokes!"

"You could be under the influence of your friends."

"But I have good friends! Look, mum. There was no 'getting high'. I was with another gi-" Ludovica was cut off by Aimie's ringtone. Aimie picked up, sighing.

"Julia, what do you want?"

"How very rude of you," Ludo heard the other end of the line.

"Basically, my friend, you know, Jamie, brought his dad along, and mum seemed to know who he was, and they sort of wandered off to leave Jamie and me to do what we wanted... and... okay, so, I'm standing outside the coffee shop they're sitting in, and from the window, they seem to be making out... I don't really know for sure bu-"

"Julia, what?"

"Basically, my friend, you know, Jamie, brought his dad along, and mum seemed to know who he was, and they sort of wandered off to leave Jamie and me to do what we wanted and from the view of the coffee shop they're in, and the shadow is giving me the impression that they are making out."

"Julia... what?"

"Basically, Jamie brought his dad along, and mum seemed to know him, and they sort of wandered off leaving me and Jamie to do as we wish, and they went to a café, and I'm standing outside the window and they look like they're making out."

"What..."

"Jamie brought his dad along and mum knows him, and they wandered into a café so that they could leave us alone and looking inside where they're sitting, I think they're making out."

"Julia... repeat yourself... one more time..."

"Mum met Jamie's dad and now they're making out in a cafeteria... Mum... mum? Yo, mum?"
