To meet the vibe of Jade's 30th yesterday, LIGHTNING STRIKES TWIIIIIICE AND IT BURNS LIKE ICEEEE I WISH I DIDN'T LOVE YOU- okay back to the SIX fandom-

TW: MACE for whoever asked me to do a Millie*Grace story months ago, this was sitting in my drafts bc I don't particularly like it and it's too short (not as short as Honeymoon but still it's disappointingly short compared to my other stories), Millie has a phobia and Grace is a protective bby (that's it, really.)

Millie sighed sinking into the couch lazily.

Grace had left her alone at home to take Bonnie out for a walk, and Millie was excited to have a lazy night to herself. Her usual nights with Grace would normally be eventful and tiring (and long), so the contrast was relieving (even though she knew she couldn't go more than a few hours without being back with Grace again.

It had been 2 hours since Grace left, and Millie had been through two episodes of Ginny and Georgia. Millie, being the impatient, hyperactive Millie she was, got up for the eighth time that night to grab even more snacks than before.

Pringles, this time. She was sick of Digestives.

The house was quiet, of course, and Millie was enjoying the silence. Well, it was peaceful until she saw a flash from outside, and a loud rumble followed it.

Not the thunder. Please, not the fucking thunder.

The roar of the thunder sent chills down her spine. She hated thunder. It had always scared her, ever since she was little. She kept her phobia to herself, too embarrassed to tell anyone about it.

She felt herself start to sweat as she became more anxious.

Millie stared outside of the window, eyes wide open. She walked slowly outside, her eyes still glued to the window. Another rumble startled her, and she ran up to Grace's room kicking the door closed and throwing herself on her bed.

She whimpered, moving her hands about frantically in the darkness, trying to get her hands on one of Grace's hoodies for comfort. Finding one on the bed, she felt around it and pulled it over her. She inhaled the smell of her girlfriend through the hoodie, providing her with little comfort.

Another clap made her jump, pulling the duvet from the bed to wrap herself in it, folding it over herself like a parcel.

Taking deep breaths, she tried to calm herself down. She grabbed Grace's black sweatshirt from the floor and pulled it over her body. She inhaled the smell of her girlfriend through the jumper, which comforted her until she heard another loud crack of thunder outside.

Millie could feel tears forming in her eyes. She sat in the middle of Grace's bed, grabbing every blanket she could find to cover herself. Sitting in the pile of blankets, her breaths were shaky, and she trembled every time there was another deafening boom of thunder.

"Stop..." she begged to absolutely no one, her hands clasped over her ears. Her sobs grew louder, and her hysterical cries prevented her from hearing the front door open downstairs.

"Baby I'm home!" Grace yelled. "Mil?" She yelled again, worried that she received no response from her normally chirpy girlfriend (who would usually run to the door to greet her). She wandered to the living room, expecting to find her younger girlfriend watching tv, but her absence made her slightly worried.

"Millie? Where are you?" Grace called into the empty room. On receiving no response, she checked all of the rooms on the ground floor. "Where could she be?" she thought to herself.

She climbed up the stairs in confusion, milling around on the landing. Her bedroom was empty, and so was the office room they shared.

She was about to call Jaye'J for help, knowing that if Millie wasn't at home, she would be the first person to know where she was.

A sob coming from her bedroom stopped her from slipping her phone out.

"Mil?" she whispered, tiptoeing to her bedroom. She creaked the door open slightly, the light from the landing pouring into the pitch-black room where the sobs were coming from. "Mil!" she repeated, this time as a statement since the figure trembling on the bed couldn't be anyone but her innocent partner.

She flicked the light switch on, finding Millie to be sitting on her bed, in her sweatshirt, surrounded by every blanket she could find, sobbing her eyes out.

She ran to Millie, hauling the blinds down and pulling the lump of duvet onto her lap.

"Shh, shh babe," she comforted, whispering sweet nothings in Millie's ear. "It's ok, baby, I'm right here, I'm right here, shh... baby you're safe with me." She was lost for words, trying everything she could think of which could possibly calm the taller girl down. After all, she had never seen Millie in such a state, and she didn't know why she was acting the way she was.

Grace unwrapped her girlfriend like a present, moving Millie on top of her. She pulled the duvet over them both, cuddling Millie close. It broke Grace's heart to feel Millie trembling against her the way she did, but after a few seconds of being in each other's warmth, Millie rested her head on Grace's chest, beginning to calm down. She tried to concentrate on Grace's heartbeat, holding Grace's head close to her since the feeling of being kissed all over provided some comfort of being close to her love.

Another loud crack rang through the room.

"GRACE... Grace..." Millie sobbed harder, burying her face in Grace's chest. Grace tightened her grip, feeling Millie's warm tears run down her skin. She sighed, unable to bear the sight of her girlfriend in such hysterics.

"Millie," she said calmly, taking her phone out of her pocket. "Millie, is it the thunder?" she asked.

"Y-yes- GRACE!" Millie cut herself off with a scream, another bolt of thunder ringing in the air.

"Oh, Millie," she cooed, feeling Millie wrap her arms and legs around Grace entirely, like a koala. "Millie... what do I do? What can I do to help?" she asked. Millie shrugged, crying even more. "I'll call Aimie... will she be able to help?" Millie shook her head, breathing heavily. "I can't see you like this, Mil! I want to help you... alright, you know what..."

Grace pulled out her headphones, pulling them over Millie's ears. She switched apps from WhatsApp to Spotify, ignoring whatever Aimie had texted back.

"Listen to this," she whispered, soothingly, pressingly 'play' on the playlist they shared.

Millie lay calmly on Grace's chest, her eyes still closed, but this time she made herself comfortable, nuzzling Grace gently. She curled up on top of Grace, feeling Grace kiss her head constantly, her hands running all over her body.

"That's it, babygirl," Grace cooed, running her fingers through Millie's long highlighted hair.

After ten or so minutes, the thunder finally subsided.

"Hey babe, I think it's stopped now, sweetheart." Millie lifted her head from Grace's chest, opening her eyes for the first time in forever. She gazed thankfully at her girlfriend, reaching her hands up to Grace's face and kissing her.

"I'm sorry, Gracie... That was no way to welcome you back home... Where's Bonnie?"

"I left her at Maiya's. But this isn't about Bonnie, this is about you. Baby, you should've told me!"

"I'm such a baby for being scared of thunder. Of course, you'd judge me for being that pathetic..." Grace saw tears start to form in Millie's eyes again.

"No Mil, you're not a baby, for god's sake. Everyone has a phobia of something. I love you, Mil. I wouldn't mock you over your fears." Grace held her girlfriend tight against her body. "I mean... you're not alone. I have FOMO. Nat's scared of spiders. Jaye'J's scared of climbing stairs in stilettos." Millie laughed.

"Maiya's not scared of anything."

"She also has a black belt in every martial art in existence," Grace justified.

Millie pulled herself up, helping Grace out of the sea of blankets.

"Thank you for caring about me," Millie smiled, hugging her girlfriend.

"Hey, I love you. I'm here to protect you."

Millie gazed down at her, pulling her closer. She couldn't be more grateful.
