TW: Nothing tbh, but I hope you enjoyed this sub-fic :)
"Sam, come down. I'm going to press join!"
"COMINGGGGG!" Sam slid down the bannister, almost landing on poor Roxie, who whined. "Sorry Rox." She picked her up and took her to the living room.
"Sam, finally!" Aimie said, dragging her to where Millie was sitting, jabbing at her laptop.
"Bloody thing won't work," Millie complained, groaning.
"Why don't you let the page load?" Aimie asked calmly, placing the laptop on the coffee table.
Sam dropped beside them, texting on her phone.
"Sam!"
 "Yes, sorry!"
Aimie sighed, clicked 'join', leaned back and placed Roxie on her lap. Millie did the same, resting her head beside Aimie's.
"I'm scared," she sighed.
"Don't be."
At first, it was just the three of them on the call. Millie sat, picking at her nails. Aimie was playing with Roxie. Sam was staring at the screen blankly.
Suddenly there was noise.
"Fudge, lemme turn my camera on... Oh hello!"
Aimie snapped her head up, finding Jaye'J on the screen.
"JAYE'J!" she shouted, her signature grin showing.
"Aims you haven't changed at all! Is that... is that Millie?" she asked, pointing to the left. Millie smiled and waved. "Mils on the other hand."
"Yeah, she's grown up," Sam smiled, placing a hand on Millie's knee. "How are you, Jaye?"
"Buzzing to see you all after ages! How are you?"
"Doing fine," Sam smiled, turning to Aimie.
"Aimie, Nat said something about... kids?"
"Mhm, I'm doing it all myself too, since John can't be half-arsed."
"She's adorable," Millie added, smiling to herself at how sweet the mother-daughter duo were.
"She's all over the place as well. A complete mess," Sam snickered, earning a nudge from the mother.
"All these two do is bully me for how disorganised she is. I blame it on John."
"And we blame it on you," Sam said.
"What's her name?" Grace asked, who had been listening quietly for a long time.
"GRACE AAA HI!" Millie jumped, making Roxie whine.
"Sorry for scaring you all," she giggled.
"GRACE MOUAT HOW ARE YOU?!" Aimie exclaimed. Sam smiled at her older cousin's excitement, putting an arm around her shoulders.
"Been great, yeah. How's the iconic trio?"
"Barely lasting," Sam faked a complaint. "God, it's been ten years and I still haven't gotten rid of these two!"
"Blessing, Sam. It's a blessing. Now, what's this about Aimie's kids?"
"She's named after the queen," Millie hinted.
"The queen's de-"
 "ARIANA GRANDE!"
 "No," Millie smiled.
"What do you mean by the queen?"
"I don't know," Sam shrugged. Grace gasped.
"No way! Did you... you did, didn't you? You did!"
 "They did what?" Jaye'J asked.
"You know what I'm talking about, right?" Grace asked.
"Yeah, I think you've got it," Millie said.
Aimie sighed. "This shouldn't be a guessing game, and Maiya's name shouldn't be taboo. I named her after Mai, in honour of her."
"I WAS RIGHT! I WAS RIGHT!"
 "Calm down, Gracie."
"That's adorable of you. When's her birthday?"
"Is that an interesting question?" Millie asked, scrunching her nose up.
"Well, no, but I need to wish her when it comes."
 "You're a little late."
 "It was yesterday."
 "Oh."
There was silence.
"Maiya's... remembrance... day..?"
"Who are we offending if we just say it as it is?" Sam asked. They all shrugged. "Maiya's death anniversary. We shouldn't be hiding from the truth."
"Pipe down, Sam. It's been a decade," Aimie sighed. "I know. We did this and that and we're the reason for blah blah blah, but today we're celebrating her. Not accusing each other of who did what."
 "I understand."
Ten minutes later, Natalie joined, and the six women caught up on life after they split. After ten minutes of avoiding the elephant in the room, Millie decided to get straight to the point.
"I miss MaiMai," she sighed, lost in thought. Aimie kissed her temple, releasing Roxie to put her arms around her younger friend. "She was the best."
"She was," Grace agreed. "The kindest person I'd ever met."
"She was so gentle and loving. We abused that," Aimie said. "Ten years, but the guilt will always remain."
"Look, instead of dwelling in the past, let's celebrate the life we had with Maiya, and how she improved all of ours."
"She helped me in school," Jaye'J said.
"She was so welcoming when I moved in with her and Mils," Aimie agreed.
"When Millie set us up together, it was the best thing which ever happened to me," Sam said.
"She always stood by my side. Even when she needed to focus on Millie, she was always there If I needed her. Even if I hadn't seen her in days, I wouldn't have missed her because I would've had her when I needed her for plenty of time," Grace piped up.
"Natalie?" Jaye'J asked.
"I... She sought me for help, but I just ended up adding to her pain. She needed me so that she would no longer bother Millie."
"Hey, Nat. Don't worry. That's all of us," Sam said. "Also, you know... what we all just said- apart from Jaye'J- but, everything we said tied in with Millie... Millie, what about you?"
All heads turned to Millie, who stuttered and shrugged. Aimie pressed another kiss on her head, rubbing her side.
"I guess... I never really thought about my feelings. Sort of went with how Aimie and Sam were about everything."
"But now we're asking you," Grace said.
"I feel happy... actually. She must feel free from all of this. Wherever she is. The world is a stressful place. She left peacefully. I think she's doing fine," Millie said, certainly.
"I agree."
"Imagine if Maiya's watching us right now..."
"WE LOVE YOU MAIMAI!" Grace screamed, and the others followed.
"To Maiya!" Sam said, and the others followed.
"To Maiya."
