I want this mission over with so I can go home. When we reach the compound, everyone is getting their gear up and getting their weapons.
"We leave in 5 minutes." I state firmly going to the jet.
5 minutes later we are loaded up and taking off. As we were flying I was looking over the base map one more time.
"Alright listen up. You each know you duties. Get in and get them done. Watch each other's backs. Goodluck." I say and walk to the back of the jet. Sam walks up next to me.
"You ready for what you could possibly find?" He asked.
"Honestly no. But for him? I will do anything to know what happened and make it better and avenge him. I don't care who I have to kill in the process." I state.
"Whoa. Steve, that isn't really like you man." Sam states.
"Yeah you are right it isn't me. But something no one knows about me, is when my loved ones are hurt, the person causing them pain will pay. Everyone excepts me to be this perfect golden boy never do anything wrong kind of person. But for Bucky? The love of my life, I will do whatever it takes to protect him. Even if that means going dark and burning the world for him." I state quietly.
"Hey, I ain't one to judge. I would do the same for Clint. I have your back man." He says.
"That is all I am asking for."
I open the back of the jet and jump out getting ready to take down this base. Once I finally land, I check out my surroundings. This is suppose to be abandoned but you never know if it is a set up or not.
"Check in. Clear for Sam and I" I say over the coms.
"Clear" Nat states.
"All clear" Tony and Clint state.
As Sam and I get into the base, we take the basement level. As I am looking around, I see a small locker looking thing and it has "winter solider" written on it. I take my shield and break the lock.
Inside of it is a couple small boxes. I open the first one and see some of Bucky's things. Such as his dog tags, and other personal items he had on him the day he fell. I keep looking when I come across a small wallet size picture of me before the serum.
I start to tear up and turn it over and see I had wrote on it "till the end of the line". I put everything back and looking through the other box and see its full of files of him. I was about the open one when Sam interrupted me.
"Uhhh Cap you may want to come see this." He says.
I walk over and see a small screen and it is playing something. I press a button and hear the video now. I see them dragging Bucky in and start beating on him. "No please. Stop stop stop. Don't do this. Please stop" he begs.
Then they pick him up and through him into a chair. It latches around his head causing him to scream. His screams shatter my heart and are burned into my brain now. I tear up and my blood stairs to boil. I look around and see a door. I go through it and see the exact chair that was in the clip. I get even more pissed and turn feral.
I throw me shield shattering anything and everything with it. I break the chair apart, and kept breaking shit and start screaming myself.
"THIS ISN'T FAIR! YOU FUCKING BASTARDS WILL ALL DIE FOR THIS" I scream not caring hydra is not here to hear me. But I promise myself and Bucky I will destroy them.
"Steve we need to go. We have everything we need okay?" Sam says.
I nod my head and grab both boxes with Bucky's stuff in it. As we get to the top and start getting in the jet, when we get into the air the back of the jet wasn't closed yet so I grab a grande and chucked it at the base completely blowing it up.
"Seriously Steve you cannot just blow a base up." Nat says.
"Why not Nat? One less place Hydra can go and build up again. Unless you have a problem with that? Huh? You want them to come back?" I ask walking closer to her causing her to back up in shock.
"Yeah I didn't think so. So sit down and shut up. You do not tell me what to do. Hydra will wish they never touched Bucky when I am done with them." I state and walk off the one of the small rooms in the back of the jet.
After a long flight, we make it back to the compound. I go into the into one of the meeting rooms and fill out a report.
Not long of being in there Fury comes walking in and sit across from me.
"Can I help you sir?" I asked.
"Yes. Turn off JARIVS in here." He states. I look up at him and grab the tablet on the table turning JARVIS off.
"Can I ask why you bombed that base?" He asked.
"Yes. That was a base they kept Bucky in or at least one of them. They had the electric chair there. I blew the bitch up so Hydra can't go back to it." I tell him leaning back in my chair.
"Do you think Bucky is still in there?" He asked.
"I do. It may take some time to get his memories recovered but I think it can happen. Why? I thought you hated him." I ask Fury.
"I have been doing research of my own and have found your buddy is innocent. I know how the team feels about him other than Clint and Sam because I have spoken to them individually. So here is what we are going to do. You keep trying to find him, and when you do, protect him with your life. I have some sources that can help get Hydra out of his head. I just need some time to make sure that can happen okay?" Fury states.
"So you want me to hide this from the team? And kill and hydra agents that come at us?" I asked.
"Yes. And I will make sure no one finds out you've gone dark. We both have revenge out for Hydra. Do what you need. I give you my personal permission." He says.
"With all due respect sir, I do not need your permission to kill Hydra." I state rubbing a hand down my face.
"No you don't but since I am essentially giving you an order, you cannot get in trouble for the repercussions if something goes bad" Fury states.
"Understood. Thank you sir." I say.
"You're welcome. I hope you find your lover." Fury says winking at me. "And I won't tell a soul" he says.
"How did you know?" I ask curiously.
"No one acts this determined and feral unless it was all for love." He says walking out. And he is not wrong.
I finish up my report and ignore everyone on my way out. I get on my motor cycle and head home. Once I get there, I take off my suit and jump in the shower before going to bed dreaming of Bucky.
I roll over at 6:30am and hear knocking. Who is here this early? I grab a t-shirt putting it on and head out to the door. When I open it it feels like all the air in my lungs is gone.
