Beep..beep..beep.
My muscles feel tight and sore. I slowly shift my body and feel more pain shoot through my body. I let out a small groan but keep moving around trying to relieve my muscles. Once i relax back down into the medical bed, I start remembering what happened on the mission.
Getting Gemma. Rebecca. She works with/for hydra. I cannot believe this. What the hell happened after Bucky and I left for the war and didn't come back. Why would she work with them? Didn't she know that's why we left for the war to begin with? Was to fight them?
I start fluttering my eyes open and I am blinded by the brightness of the lights in here. I groan and that must've alerted someone next to me.
"Hey Cap. Can you hear me?" Sam says.
"Y-ye-yeah...l-lights" I rasp out due to my throat being sore.
I hear movement moments later and notice the lights dim a little bit. I am not able to open my eyes and adjust to my surrounding. I look over on the tray table next to me and reach for the water to help out with mg dry throat and mouth.
After a few more sips I place it back down and turn my head to look at Sam.
"What happened when we got here?" I asked.
"Dr. Strange took you into surgery. Tony brought Gemma to the lab and I took Rebecca to the holding cell. Tony ended up assisting Strange with your surgery and everything turned out fine. They are currently doing surgery on Gemma because JARVIS found a device chip inside of brain. So they are removing it as we speak. Rebecca didn't have anything in her so we are fine in that piece. Tony asked me to sit in here with you in case you woke up. They didn't want you alone." He says.
"I still can't believe Rebecca is with hydra. I mean she had to hear about how Bucky "died" and was hydras fault? Unless they weren't told it was hydras fault? I don't know." I mumbled.
"It is very shocking. I wasn't expecting that. But what I have been thinking about is how ready she seemed when we got there. Almost as if someone knew exactly where we were going. Except the only ones who we discussed it with were Tony and Fury." Sam says.
I look over at him and raise an eyebrow. "Sam what are you saying" I ask.
"I'm saying doesn't this feel a little bit too convenient?" He asks. "Think about it Steve, Rebecca knew exactly what she was doing when we showed up. You cannot tell me it was not a coincidence. She was waiting for you. The only question now is, who told" he says.
"It can't be either of them Sam. Both hate hydra just as much as I do" I say sitting up.
"Do they? Or are they just trying to come across that way?" He asks.
"I don't know Sam. But when I get out of this bed if Gemma is still asleep, I am going to talk with Rebecca and get some answers. I want to know why she has done this and if she was apart of torturing my husband. I don't care if she is my sister in law. If she hurt my husband she will pay for what she did to him or help hydra do to him." I state firmly.
"How will Bucky respond to this?" Sam asked.
"Honestly I don't know. He will want proof so I will make sure Tony keeps all the recordings from the mission to today and further on if we get information out of her. When Bucky comes back I will let him know what's happened and show him the proof. Depending on his response will depend on our next move with her." I tell him.
I take a moment to think some more when an idea comes to my mind.
"JARVIS, pull up footage from yesterday before we left for the mission." I ask.
Moments later he displays the screen showing Sam, Fury, Tony and I in the lab talking. "JARVIS add audio" I say.
"You gotta be shitting me" Sam says.
"Fury..please tell me, you didn't know they had Rebecca and Gemma?" I asked with my voice cracking.
"No I didn't I just knew it was something valuable. But now it makes so much sense. Tony have you found anything?" Fury asked.
"Yeah. The base is in Canada. At least that is where the coordinates took me. From the little information JARVIS is showing, it doesn't look like there is any activity there." He says.
"When can we go?" I asked.
"Leave in an hour. Take them to the tower Tony. If here is a leak here, we need to make sure those two are on our side and possibly prepare for them to respond like the winter soldier, not Bucky Barnes." Fury say.
Not much longer, a figure slowly walks up outside of the lab and listens in. After a few more minutes they leave.
"Unbelievable. Alright JARVIS move footage to left side of the compound past the lab." I say. Then he pulls it up and plays the footage.
The figure walks out and grabs their phone. To make a call. "Hello"
"Captain and Falcon are their way to your base. Be ready. Captain seems determined to them." The individual says.
"Let them try. You know Queen Hydra has plans. Especially with the daughter." The agent says.
"I am well aware of those plans. Just follow through. You know Queen Hydra hates when her agents fail. Plus I can't lose you so don' do anything that'll get you killed and taken from me." The individual says.
"Stop worrying. You know I got this. I love you"
"I love you"
"I was not expecting that." Sam says.
"Yeah honestly I never would've expected them to be the ones to do this to us." I say shaking my head.
