Chapter 45: Skull rock

Her arms snaked around his still damp and cold waist grabbing onto his denim vest. She was actually crying hard. He just stood there stroking her hair and whispering nice words to her.Lilly was surprised by how well Eddie handled all of this. But then again this wasn't his first witch hunt this week.

When Lilly had calmed down a little they went behind the big boulders. It were not just a few big boulders but it was like Dolmens.All stacked on top and over each other.beneath the dolmens the cold morning breeze was gone so it was a lot more pleasant then in the forest. They sat down and Lilly was searching for the walkie-talkie. 'We need to talk to the others we need another spot for you to hide.' Lilly said.

*Nancy's car.'

'Not to be a wimp, but can I like stay in the car this visit?' Robin asked to Nancy who was driving.'Because this is gonna totally and royally suck.'To which Nancy shook her head.'It'll be fine..'

'I just can't stand to see those dull eyes of Eddie's break again.I really really can't' Steve who was sitting in the trunk of the car with Dustin and eating chips. was pulling up a six-pack of beer and a pack of cigarettes.'At least he can drink himself into feeling better.' He said.'That's what my mom does.' Max replied plainly.To which Steve his eyes turned to 'Oh shit.' and he shut himself up.

'Why don't we just like give it a trial run.' Robin suggested.'Hey, Eddie.Uh, good news first this time..We got you some Dustin-approved junk food and the cigarettes you requested.' Robin started.'And beer!' Steve said with his mouth full of pringles.'Oh yeah, and we found Vecna.' Robin continued.'Only the bad news is that he's in that other, darker, much scarier dimension, that we told you about and the gate's closed, so we have no way of getting to him.Like he's entirely shut off to us, so basicly you're screwed.And no no no, i know you were already screwed,but now you're like doubly, triply screwed. ' Robin ended her monologue.

'No wait wait wait..' Lucas started.'Maybe we don't put it like that..'

'We're one step closer to finding Vecna.That's what we say..That's what's important.' Nancy suggested.'See Robin? Positive spin can make all the difference.' Steve said as he threw a few pringles on Dustin'Uh-hu.' Robin answered looking coldy at Steve.

'Oh shit.' Nancy suddenly said making everyone look towards the front of the car.They were driving up to Reefer Rick's house. But it were lots of cars and people.Nancy stopped the car and they all jumped out.They were looking around for a second when Nancy whispered to come to everyone and she sneaked up to a reporters van.Where she saw the chief give a statement.

'A little after midnight..reporting a homicide here on the lake.officer Callahan here and myself arrived first on the scene.We made our way to the shore of Lover's Lake, about ten yards from that house you see behind me.It was there that we found the victim, an eighteen-year-old senior from Hawkins High, Patrick McKinney.his limbs...his body, it was disfigured.. There was an eyewitness on the scene.. We also have identified a person of interest.Eddie Munson.' The chief was explaining to the press.He also called for a pers conference. But the group was looking shocked to him putting up a picture of Eddie. 'Oh man...' Steve said. 'This is really not good..' They were all still in disbelief when Dustin's walkie-talkie went off.

'Dustin.. Can you hear me?' It was Lilly.'Nance?, Steve?' She asked again.'Lilly Holy shit are you with him?' Dustin asked he walked away from the van and the whole group went after him.'Are you okay?' Steve took the walkie from Dustin.

'Yes and no..Pretty fucked up far from okay..' Lilly answered.'Where are you?' Steve said on his motherly (brotherly) tone.Lilly looked at Eddie she didn't know what this place was called.Eddie took the walkie-talkie 'Skull rock. Do you know it?' Eddie answered.

'Uh.. yeahThat's near Cornwallis and--' Dustin started.'Garret, yeah. I know where that is.' Steve said as he walked away from the group towards the car.'Hold on. we're coming.' Dustin said in the walkie-talkie before running after the others.Lilly wanted to say something back.But when she heard Steve talk she couldn't help but started to sob softly.She knew him for just a few months but he was the purest and best soul/brother she could wish for.

Nancy parked her car at the begin of the woods. they all jumped out.

Dustin took his compass out and Steve was scoffing at that.'dude, i'm telling you, you're taking us the wrong way.' he said towards the teen.'It's north. I'm positive.I checked on the map.' Dustin told him.'You do realize Skull Rock, it's a super popular make-out spot?' Steve asked Dustin.'Oh god what if we find them..' Robin said.

To which everyone looked around at her.'Do you really think they would be doing that right now?' Nancy said turning around to her.'Could be romantic?' Robin said scoffing.To which Dustin returned his gaze to Steve.'Yeah so?' 'Yeah, well, it wasn't popular until I made it popular.all right?I practically invented it.we're heading in the wrong direction.' Steve said while turning away from Dustin and walked to the left.

'Steve.Steve where are you going? STEVE!' Dustin said.'Stop whining. Let's go!Trust me.' Steve said rolling his eyes at Dustin and he kept going in to the left.'STEHEEEVE' Dustin lowly yelled to him.Lucas and Max were talking with each other. Steve and Dustin were arguing like an old married couple.And Nancy and Robin were walking and talking about her relationship with Jonathan.

When suddenly Steve said.'Bada bing, bada boom.There she is Henderson.Skull rock.' He proudly stated.'In your face, man.In your stupid, cocky little face.' Steve was trying to brag.

'It doesn't make sense.' Dustin said thinking to himself.'Yeah, yeah. Even with it staring you in the face, you can't admit it.You just can't admit you're wrong, you little butthead.' Steve said as he was staring at Skull rock.

'I concur.You Dustin Henderson, are a... Total ... *deep breath* butthead.' The both of them turned around in a brief second. Seeing the tall Eddie stand in front of them.

'Jesus, we thought you were a goner.' Dustin said as he brought Eddie in for a hugLilly stood behind him.

Steve frowned. Lilly was normally just like him casual, and a big ego.But she stood there as a small fragile girl.And when she saw Steve look at her. She almost started to sob. 'Lills..' Steve saidas he walked towards her and she almost jumped in his arms. sobbing again. Steve put her arms around her and looked up to Eddie with a frown.But when he met Eddie's face he could see the heart break on his face when he saw her sob again.

Dustin stood next to Eddie. Who was looking tired and broken when he saw his person break. Then Nancy, Robin, Lucas and Max appeared from the bushed as they saw Steve hold Lilly they all jumped towards them.Robin directly pushed herself between Lilly and Steve.

While the others first went to Eddie to give him a hug. And Nancy gave him the bag with food which he gratefully took.

'Lilith you need to eat.' He then spoke before getting something for himself. She got out of the embrace of Steve and took a deep breath.a nod came off of her and she walked towards Eddie. grabbing a granola bar and opening it. 'You need to eat something too. You haven't eaten since yesterday.' She motherly said to him pulling the bag away from him and looking for something.

Steve let out a big sigh towards Robin as he saw that she got herself together.And she just smiled at him. Eddie looked at Steve and mouthed his thanks to him.'Okay but what happened.' Nancy then asked to the both of them.Eddie looked at Lilly.'You tell them Lilith.' He said as he was rumbling in the bag.
