Chapter 46: The Shire is burning.

Lilly who had calmed down a bit and gotten Steve's yellow sweatshirtStarted explaing everything that went down since yesterdaynight.

'When I got to shore, I looked for Lilith for hours but i couldn't find her.She was worried someone would find your car.' Eddie said looking at Steve.'So she went to Dustin's house to get a walkie-talkie and skateboarded towards the woods.' Eddie said while lighting a cigarette.

'And that took a bit longer than i expected.' Lilly sighed.'But she found me here.' Eddie said.'Do you remember the time this all went down?' Nancy suddenly asked.'Yeah i actually know because this thing got fucking soaked.' Eddie said pulling his watch of his wrist and throwing it to Nancy.

'9:27.' Nancy said.'Same time our flashlights went kablooey.' Robin said.'Which means? what exactly?' Lilly asked taking a sip out of the flask with water Dustin brought.'That that surge of impact energy was Vecna attacking Patrick.'Nancy threw the watch back to Eddie.

'Well, we're one step closer, we know how Vecna attacks.' Robin said. Dustin was walking around looking around on his compass. Steve was poking Lilly's side and pointing to Dustin with a scoff.'Still can't stand that I knew the way.' Steve said proudly.

'And where he attacks from.' Lucas said.'So now we just need to sneak into his lair in the Upside Down and drive a stake through his heart.' Max said her arms crossed.'If he even has a heart.' Robin added.

'A stake? is he like a vamp-Is he a vampire?' Steve asked his eyes narrowed.To which Lilly gave him a smack to the back of his head.'It was a metaphor.' Max said.'A bullet should work on him, right?' Eddie suggested.'I say we chop his head off.' Lucas added.'Yeah i'd say all of the above, but we can't do any of that untill we find a way into the Upside Down.' Nancy said.

Lilly had turned around looking at Dustin.He was pacing and pacing so she walked up to him.'We need El to get her powers back.' Max said while rolling her eyes.'Everything was way easier.'Steve turned to Eddie.'We had this girl. She had superpowers.' Steve started.'Superpowers. Yeah, you mentioned her.' Eddie said looking at Steve.

He then turned his face back at Dustin who was still pacing as Lilly was staring into the distance.'Hey, uh, Henderson's not, uh... cursed? is he? And he did not just curse my girlfriend with him?' Eddie said frowning and pointing to the both of them.'Cursed? no, no he's fine.' Steve said He was looking to Eddie over the mentioned girlfriend thing.'Mental? absolutely.' Steve added to the Dustin thing.

'BOOM.' Dustin suddenly yells.Lilly ran over to them and they were whispering together it was almost like they suffered from a heat stroke.Lilly's eyes turned big and she put her hands to her face. 'Bada..' Dustin said as he walked towards Steve.'Bada.. BOOM.' Steve was looking at them funny and shook his head in confusion.'I was right.' He then told Steve.'Skull rock was north.' He added to the sentence.

'Seriously? You're Serious?' Steve said mocking him.'Mmm-hmm.' Dustin nodded.'This is Skull Rock. okay?' Steve said pointing to the big boulders.Lilly stood next to Dustin.And nodded.'Okay. You're totally, absolutely one hundred percent wrong.Right now.' Steve said looking at him in disbelief. wondering if he actually was cursed.

'Yes..' Dustin said.'And no.' Lilly added.'Oh my god.' Steve turned around facepalming himself with both hands.'This compass worked perfectly when we left the Wheelers.It was correct when we got in the car on Curly.But it started to slip the further east we went.' Dustin explained with his hands.Lilly stood next to him nodding her head.She had her arms crossed. 'Now..' Dustin continued.'It's way off.. When I was leading us here, I wasn't wrong.The compass was.' Dustin said holding it up.'So you're using faulty equipment..You're still wrong.' Steve said using his hand to bring over the message to this butthead Henderson.

'Except.. ' Lilly said.'It isn't faulty.Dustin, remember what can affect a compass?' She asked.To which he simply replied.'An electromagnetic field.' 'Yep.' She answered.

Robin was looking at her in confusion.'I'm sorry. I must've skipped that class.''In the prescence of a stronger magnetic field, the needle will deflect towards that power.' Lilly said looking at Dustin if she was correct.And he proudly nodded.

'So.' He continued.'Either there's some super big magnet around here, or..' 'There's a gate.' Lucas filled in.To which both Dustin and Lilly turned to Lucas.'one hundred points to Lucas Sinclair.' Lilly said with her hand for her mouth to slightly deform it.

'But we're nowhere near the lab.' Nancy said in disbelief.'But what if, somehow, there's another gate?' Dustin said putting his hands together.'A gate that we don't know about.' 'It'd have to be smaller. Way less powerful.' Dustin explained.'A snack-size gate.' Lilly said proudly.'How? why?' Steve added to the conversation as confused as ever.

'No idea. All i know is that something is causing this disturbance, and the last time we've seen anything like it, it was a gate.And i hope it is because then we'd have a way to Vecna.And a shot at freeing MAx from t his curse.' Dustin concluded his story.'And to prove Eddie's innocence.' Lilly added.Dustin nodded and he was off walking towards the needle on the compass. 'Where are you going?' Steve asked but Dustin kept walking.

'Hey, hey hey hey hey HEY!' Steve yelled trying to get his attention.'Eddie's still a wanted man. We can't just go hike in the woods.' Steve said.And Lilly knew that he was right but they needed to do something they couldn't just let Eddie stay at Skull rock.

'This little steel capsule might be the key to saving both Max and Eddie.' Dustin said holding up the compass.'What say you, Eddie the Banished?' Dustin asked Eddie holding out his hands.Lilly had walked over to Eddie and stood beside him.Everyone had turned towards Eddie waiting for his answer.

'I say... you're asking me to follow you into Mordor-' Eddie said while looking at Lilly who chuckled because of her Mordor reference at the tree last night.'Which, if i'm totally straight with you, I think is a really bad idea...But.. uh.. the Shire... ' Eddie continued. He looked up at Lilly.'But... the Shire... The Shire is burning.. So Mordor it is.' Eddie said while standing up straight looking at an almost Excited Dustin.

He grabbed Lilly's arm and pulled her with him towards Dustin.They walked past the others and they all looked a tat confused but walked after them.Lilly put her hand over Dustin's shoulder 'Thanks.' She softly said.Steve came walking after them.'I understood that reference.' He said proudly to Robin.'Yeah no wonder you have Queen movie living with you.' She said rolling her eyes at him.Eddie came running back to get his flask and his walkie-talkie.'Get your stuff dude. Let's go!' Steve said as he was the last one in line.
