Jealously is a disease

I woke up the next morning earlier then everyone else, when I peeked out the window I saw the sun starting to rise. It was a beautiful summer morning. I grabbed my old boots and took a deep breath before slipping my feet in, I hadn't worn these boots since Demi got me my new ones. was I really never going back? the orphanage feels like its all I've ever known, I've been there practially my whole life and now, I've left it, I mean no one else knows it yet. maybe its for the best though, maybe its just a piece of me I need to leave behind, including Jess and Casey. I haven't heard from them in ages and it really hurts, but I guess I shouldn't be to surprised i suspected it would happen anyway. I looked over at Maddie who was still fast asleep. I was angry with her, but how could I be? she only told Demi because she was worried about me, because she cared. I gave a small smile then went out closing the door as quietly as I could behind me so I didn't wake anyone up. I tiptoed down the hall then when I got to the main lobby checked the time on the clock, I've still got about half an hour before everyone else starts waking up. I went out the front then walked my way down to the big tree and sat behind it then lit my smoke, I took a drag and closed my eyes trying to process everything from the night before. I felt my pocket and pulled out the razor, I snapped off handle and threw it away, then I broke off the plastic and took the blade out. I started to fiddle with it in my hands  "Hayley?" I heard someone yell. I jumped up and gasped, it'd given me a fright. "hayley?!" I heard the voice yell again, it was Demi, she was calling me from the main lobby.ugh, I sat back down and ignored her. can't she just leave me alone? "Hayley where are you?!" she called out again sounding really worried. I actually started to feel bad "ugh" I rolled my eyes and got up. I found her walking around looking for me "why are you so obsessed with me??" I spat annoyed walking up to her, she turned around and I noticed her instantly relax as she ran over to me "oh my gosh I came in to check on you this morning and you weren't there and after last night I was so worried" she cried pulling me into a tight hug. but instead of pushing her away I hugged her back. when she pulled away she looked at me "where were you?" she yelled "I was having a smoke, geez calm down" I said walking back inside "you have to let me know when you wonder off  "no I actually don't" I spat "yes you actually do" "I'm not gonna come wake you up whenever I want to go out for a few minutes" I replied "I'd really rather that you did" "fine, I will, happy?" I sighed with no intention of actually doing it, I just wanted to get her off my back.

I walked into the lobby to see everyone already up and heading out the door. "whoa why's everyone already up, where is everyone going?" I asked "we're having breakfast early so we can leave a bit earlier today. you would know that if you listened when we gave the announcements" Demi replied. "I do listen" "yeh right" Demi smiled. "hayley!" Joel called me over to the group and I ran over to join them.

"whose keeeennn?"Maddie said excitedly clapping her hands "I'm actually so keen" Tyler said "I'm not, I'm out of smokes" Joel groaned "yeh I'm almost out to" I said "ugh you guys, you don't need smokes. there gross" Jess shouted "they are addictive" Ryan shrugged. I looked at Ryan and Jess sitting next to each other. hmmm I feel like there's something going on between them, I could tell Ava was thinking the same thing, we looked at each other and smirked.

"okay listen up everyone!" we turned around to see Nick and Demi standing at the front ready to talk to everyone. "the other groups will be here for their breakfast soon so everyone bring your plates up and head straight back to our lobby grab your small travel bag then meet by the car park, the busses will be here soon to take us to the camp..." as Nick went on and on I looked over at Demi, not saying anything. I saw her look up at where the light fixture no longer was then look down at her feet. I took a deep sigh and closed my eyes feeling really bad for her. when I looked back up at her I noticed her looking at me to, she gave me a small smile and I looked down. When everyone started getting up I assumed Nick was done talking and we started heading back to our lobby. "this is so exciting" Ava squealed. I heard lots of other kids talking about how excited they were for the bon fire and to meet the other group from another nearby camp. I felt a shiver of excitement myself, I had been camping before and I didn't enjoy it one bit, but I have a feeling this time. it'll be good.
