Unforgivable mistakes

Hayleys POV
ugh, I woke up with the bright sun shinning in my face through the huge living room window and a sore back from another uncomfortable night sleeping on the couch. I really need to talk to Casey and Rebecca about getting a bed. Maybe we can all share a room like we used to at the orphanage and use the other room as a study or something like some people do. I wasn't sure what time it was, I rolled over and tried to get back to sleep but I could hear Casey and Rebecca in the kitchen being awfully loud. I groaned and stretched as I got out of bed and stormed into the kitchen loud enough to make my presence known with out saying anything. "wow, you don't look happy" Rebecca joked pouring hot water into a mug "I'm not" I replied "whoa, rough sleep?" Casey asked "uh yeah, been sleeping on the couch for the last week, remember?" I said annoyed "okay okay" Casey said trying to calm the situation down. I watched as she looked into her cup of coffee and started to think, it was silent for a moment. "Why don't we all share a room, you know like we did at the orphanage" I shrugged Casey and Rebecca looked at each other. "Actually, I was thinking of getting bunks so me and Rebecca could share a room, and give you the chance to have your own bedroom" Casey smiled. I looked over at rebecca to see what she thought of the idea, she was nodding with approval. Oh, I didn't know what I thought of that. I'd never had my own bedroom, not since I moved into the orphanage. The only time I've slept alone in a room was when I was kidnapped. But I could tell Casey and Rebecca thought they were being nice by letting me have my own room, but it felt lonely. Maybe they got closer in the month I was gone and I'm being left out. "We don't have to do it that way! It's just I thought-" Casey started
"No no no! Um, yeah that sounds great! Thank you" I faked smiled. I felt bad turning down an offer that they seemed really happy to give. I took a seat at the table and waited for the girls to join me "We'll make it work until we can afford a bigger apartment!" Rebecca smiled at Casey. But truthfully, I wanted to share a bedroom like the old days, I can't say I'm not happy to be out of the orphanage but I also can't say I'm loving the change. I don't feel close to anyone anymore.

"That's all my stuff!" Rebecca announced carrying a bag into the hallway revealing my new room, my new lonely, empty room.
I stepped in the empty room with only my small bag. "Alright" I said to myself "let's make this place more cozy" I popped on some music and started hanging all my clothes up. I had some really nice pink bed sheets Rebecca had given me. I opened the window for some fresh air. I had some stationary i placed on the desk next to the lamp and Rebecca had left some beautiful twinkling fairy lights on the wall behind the bed. I took a step back and admired my room. Actually, I think this was going to be good. I was starting to get excited about having my own room. I plopped onto my bed and stretched out. "Ahhhhh" I smiled to myself, a nice big comfy bed, all to myself I thought as I started to doze off.

I woke up to some weird shuffling noises in my room, I opened my eyes but laid in my bed frozen. My breathing became heavy. There were chains on the door and everything went quiet, I listened carefully for the chains but someone started shaking me "Hayley!" Someone was calling out, I started to sob. "Demi!" I yelled as I sat up like a bullet. I looked around the room "Rebecca?" I said between breaths. She was sitting on my bed looking really concerned "what's going on are you okay? I think you were having a nightmare" she said putting a hand on my shoulder. "I heard noises and I was alone" I said panting "I'm sorry that was just me, I came in to borrow some clothes. I knocked but you were asleep, I didn't wanna wake you up because I know your tired from sleeping on the couch, I am so sorry I scared you I promise I won't come in again while your sleeping" she rambled. I kept looking around the room, I was at home, with Casey and Rebecca. I saw my desk with my lamp and pens. The hallway with the beige coloured tiles and I could hear the kettle boiling in the kitchen. I closed my eyes "it's okay Rebecca, it was just a bad dream, I'm okay now" I reassured her. She smiled at me "whose Demi?" She asked "huh?" I asked surprised "Demi? I dont know you called out her name"
"Oh.. uh. I did? That's weird" I said playing dumb
"Hm" Rebecca shrugged it off
"So what do you need to borrow clothes for?" I asked changing the topic
"Nathan messaged me that he was coming over for lunch, so I wanna wear something nice" Rebecca smiled excitedly, I felt a pit in my stomach, that's right, I invited Nathan over for lunch and Casey is expecting me to tell Rebecca about us.
