I didn't realize until tears were sliding down my face that I was crying. I reached up and tried to wipe them away, but it was as if the flood gates opened up and wouldn't close. Opening and closing my mouth a few times, nothing but a croak here and there emerged as I was trying to find my voice. Odessa, I guess she found it cute, chuckled and pulled me into a hug.
"Got ya speechless there, love?"
"Y-Yeah," I said in a bit of a raspy voice.
She pressed a kiss to my forehead before resting her head on top of mine, "Ya don't need to say it. I know your answer."
I pulled away and placed my hands on her cheeks. Pulling her towards me, I placed my lips firmly against hers. Both of lips curled into a smile as we kissed one another. She pulled away and that was when I finally found my voice.
"Yes, Dez. I would love to become your queen."
A wide smile appeared on her face as she took my trembling hand, sliding the ring onto my finger. I admired it as I leaned into her shoulder. She kissed the side of my head and wrapped her arm around my waist. Turning towards me, using her other hand, wiped the tears away from my eyes.
"I have to find someone to officiate the weddin'," she said. "I don't know who will do it, though."
"I'm sure we'll find someone."
We sat there for a little bit before Odessa stood up, holding out her hand. I took it and she pulled me up from the edge of the fountain. We walked back to the house and got ready for bed. I laid down on the bed, waiting for her to come in once she was done in the bathroom. The door swung open and she turned off the light for the bathroom and the bedroom. Crawling in beside me, she wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me closer to her. I wrapped my arms around her and buried my face in the crook of her neck. Before we dozed off to sleep, she pressed a kiss to my forehead before a light one against my lips.
"Goodnight, Y/N. I lova ya, my princess."
"Goodnight, Dez. I love you, too."
As time passed, things started to get busier at the warehouse to where Odessa had to come in more often to help with everything we were doing. The day after they heard the news, everyone in the warehouse congratulated us and they even prepared a special lunch for us. It was welcoming to know that they supported us and they supported their Queen, since Odessa told me what had happened yesterday before I came to the warehouse.
While things were getting busier with the warehouse, things were also getting busier with Odessa, making things harder for her to juggle. There were many times where I found myself either sleeping alone or in the warehouse. It wasn't too bad since there was one night I went to the her office building as she calls it, to find her alseep on the desk. It was actually quite humorous to find her face down on the desk asleep. I had put a blanket on her shoulders and kissed her goodnight before heading into the bedroom, falling asleep in there.
Five years later and her reign as queen is still going strong. There were a few things that happened here and there when people heard about our engagement. It put more of a target on my back now, but Odessa was always there to ensure I was safe. She even thought about having Meri walk me home, but I had my swords to defend myself if I ever went home without Odessa. But it gave her all the more reason to buckle down and get on people's case if they didn't leave me alone. There was an incident where some guy tried to touch me outside of the office building. Odessa opened up the window from the throne room and shot at the guy's foot, missing it by a few inches. She yelled at him to back off and he ran off. She threw Gracie at him, hitting the wall nearby.
Blinking my eyes open and feeling the empty space beside me, I groaned and got up, getting ready to head to the warehouse. When I opened the door, I almost stepped in a pile of envelopes. I looked down to see it was the same letter she had gotten five years ago. Picking them up and sighing, I locked the door behind me and walked over to Odessa's office building before going to the warehouse. Opening the door and heading up the stairs, Odessa's door to the throne room was open and she was doing some paperwork in silence. She looked up and her eyes immediately lit up upon seeing me.
"G'day, my princess," she said and stood up, walking over to greet me. She pulled me into one of her bear hugs and kissed my cheek. "How are ya today?"
"Ya got more letters from Overwatch," I said, handing them to her.
She sighed and took them, "They just don't get the hint."
"Maybe you should tell them you're not interested."
"If I call 'em up and tell 'em I'm not interested, they might try to do something to persuade me. Since they already have my attention, they might as well try, right?"
"I suppose."
"Anyway, headin' over to the warehouse soon?" she asked.
"Yeah. I just wanted to stop by and see how you were doin'."
"Doin' better now that I saw ya," she said, hugging me once more. "I'll try to stop by today and help out."
"You don't have to if you're unable to."
"I want to and I will make the time to."
I smiled and pulled away, but not before I was pulled back towards her, her lips finding a place against mine. I smiled and happily kissed her back.
"I'll see ya soon," she said and winked before returning to her desk.
I smiled and walked out of the building and headed towards the warehouse, that feeling of butterflies fluttering around in my stomach did not let up, even when I saw her during our lunch break.
