In a blink of an eye, a year had gone by and there were still many things Odessa needed to do as her duty as Queen. Within the first month, she addressed the town and informed everyone of the new changes there would be. That was also when she mentioned about the warehouse being open for repairs and custom orders. After that, the warehouse was overwhelmed with people coming in with repairs on their mechs or wanting their own unique weapon. The two of us were hard at work with Odessa dealing with civil matters while I had to deal with making repairs and new weapons. It was a lot of work during that time and there were times where Odessa would sleep in the building she got from winning the Reckoning and I would go back to our house, since that house was in the center of Junkertown, much farther away from the warehouse in comparison to where Odessa's building was. Our house was a good five minute walk while her 'castle' was in about twenty minutes. So we both were missing each other for a good while there.
When everything settled down was when we finally found time for one another. And I was still as giddy when I first called her mine. Some nights when she'd get done with paperwork early, she'd surprise me at the warehouse and we'd get dinner together before heading back home. However, those nights were rare even when things got slow and settled down much more. Closing in on the year of her winning the Reckoning, I was going to surprise her with a celebration. I closed up the warehouse early and headed home to put my weapons away. When I reached the front door, I noticed there was an envelope by the foot of the door with a weird looking logo on the right hand corner. There was cursive writing that addressed Odessa, but it was addressed as "Junker Queen of Junkertown."
I reached down and picked it up, examening the envelope before putting it in my pocket. I opened the door, put my swords against the wall before closing it back up, locking it. I ran down the stairs and jumped off the last balcony, stumbling a bit before I got back to my feet. Running towards the direction of the 'castle', I waved to those who I knew and people greeted me. All of Junkertown knew I was with Odessa and everyone knew that if they laid so much as a finger on me, hell, glance at me the wrong way, Odessa would be on their ass for it. I reached the front door and smiled, catching my breath before opening the door. The familiar entry way greeted me and I walked up the stairs, heading to the throne room. I knocked before opening the door.
"Dez?"
"Is that you, Y/N?" she asked.
"No, it's Junkrat, milady," I joked, trying to do the best Junkrat impression.
She chuckled and I opened the door wider, revealing it was me.
"How are ya, my princess?" she asked, looking up from the paperwork.
"Doin' fine now that I'm with ya," closing the door and walking over to her. "I have to find a better name for this building instead of callin' it your 'castle'."
"I just call it my office building," Odessa said.
"That's much better than what I had in mind," I chuckled.
She looked over at the clock that was on the wall, her eyebrows furrowing as she turned her head to me, "Ya closed up the warehouse early."
"We got everything we needed to do done today," I said.
"I see," she perked up an eyebrow while the other one bent downwards. "Or were ya just eager to see me?"
"Well," I walked over to her desk, seeing that it was the normal paperwork she was working on. I got in between her and the desk, looking down at her. "Maybe we did get our stuff done, maybe I just was eager to see ya. Your pick."
She smirked and put her pencil down, grabbing me by my waist and pulling me closer to her, "I'd like to think it's the latter."
She picked me up and set me on her lap. Wrapping my legs around her waist and my arms around her neck, I pressed my forehead against hers. She closed her eyes and let out a sigh, pecking my lips here and there.
"Stressed?"
"Very," she growled.
"Let me take some tension off of ya," I pulled away and started to massage her shoulders.
Her head fell backwards into the cushioned back of the throne chair, closing her eyes and enjoying the massage I was giving her. Her hands found a place on my waist and she ran her hands up and down, feeling my curves. Once I was finished, I placed my hand against her cheek. She leaned into my touch, feeling my soft palm against her smooth cheek. Leaning towards my palm, she pressed a light kiss before returning back to my touch.
"I don't mean to interrupt," I said.
"How could ya?" she asked.
"Something came for ya."
"What is it?" she asked, getting serious.
I pulled out the letter from my pocket and handed it to her. She took it, opened it up, and read through it.
"Huh, interesting."
"What's the matter?"
"There's this team called Overwatch that's lookin' to recruit me."
"Recruit ya? For what?"
"For protecting the world."
"Against what?"
"It said in case of attacks such as the omnics."
"Almost like the things ya fought in the Burning Lands?"
"I guess," she said.
She leaned towards the desk and tossed it onto the wooden table, "It's not important or anything."
"If they need ya, then you should go."
"I have a duty here, Y/N," she said. "The people of Junkertown are my top priority now. Not to mention you as well. There are things I'd like to do for you and this town before I think about savin' the world."
"But Odessa," I began.
"No buts about it, Y/N. Queen's decree."
I chuckled and playfully rolled my eyes.
"What?"
"Nothin'," I smiled and pressed a kiss to her forehead. "It's just comforting to know that you're putting your duties as Queen over what this Overwatch needs."
"Not only that, but putting my duty as ya girlfrien' before them," she said, placing her lips firmly against mine, her lips curling into a smile.
