After Odessa came back from talking to Mercy, she grabbed me by my hand and led me around the base, showing me around. The other members of Overwatch greeted me and talked for a bit while we walked around. While some of them looked pretty scary, especially Reaper, they were all very friendly when they talked to me. I think if anyone talked bad about me in front of Odessa, they were going to be in a world full of hurt. We walked into the kitchen where we found Mercy and Genji were making something for the entire team of Overwatch.
"Still cookin' for everyone?" Odessa asked.
"We always want to carry on the tradition, even if everyone isn't here anymore," Mercy said.
"Food always tastes better when there are friends to enjoy it with you," Genji said.
"How are you and your brother gettin' along?" Odessa asked.
"Better," was all Genji said.
"Was there something that happened between the two of 'em?" I asked.
"Long story," said Genji.
"Let's just say, it was all resolved when I bashed their heads together," Odessa chuckled.
"It hurt a lot, but we came together because of it," he said, helping Mercy cook.
"What are ya cookin' today?" I asked.
"It was Kiriko's suggestion," Mercy said. "Ramen."
"I've never had it," I said.
"It's like chicken noodle soup, but without the chicken and add in some Japanese food items," Genji said. "I think you'll enjoy it."
"And you're in luck, we're just finishing up," Mercy said. "Genji, can you tell everyone that dinner is ready?"
"Of course," he said and darted away.
Mercy turned and handed me a bowl as well as Odessa. We sat down together and watched as everyone started to trickle into the large kitchen area. Kiriko came over and sat down with us. Everyone either sat down with one another or left to go eat in probably their own room or somewhere else. When we were finished, we washed the bowls we were using and Odessa took me outside to look at the night sky. We were sitting on the roof of the base, which I was surprised she was able to get access to come up here.
"Dez?"
"Yeah?" she looked over at me.
"Kiriko told me something," I said. "Something about this whole process."
"What about it?"
"She said that with this whole process, there is a 60% chance that it will result in a miscarriage."
I looked over at Odessa to see what her expression was. Her eyes avoided mine and that smile that was once there turned into a frown as she sat up, looking at the water that was nearby.
"With that high of a percentage, do ya still want to continue with this?"
"I'll take my chances."
She slowly nodded her head, turning to look at me. Wrapping her arms around me, pulling me onto her lap. I wrapped my arms around her neck and hers found their normal place around my waist. I rested my head on her shoulder and the pads of her fingers trailed up and down my back. She pressed a light kiss to the side of my head.
"We're going to get through this just fine, my princess."
"Kiriko also told me that if I have any issues, to just call her and she gave me a phone to work with."
"She gave me one as well, since it was mandatory to have one on ya when patrolling, but I rarely used it since I returned. Maybe we can use it to talk to one another back in Junkertown."
"Yeah," I said, closing my eyes, feeling the warmth radiate from her.
"Let's get ya inside, love," she said, standing up and making her way over to where we came from, climbing down the ladder and heading to where Kiriko and her used to room together.
She opened the door to see Kirko was lying on her bed. Walking over to where her bed was, she placed me down to see I had fallen asleep. Smiling, she brushed a few strands of hair away from my face, giving me a light peck on my cheek.
"Goodnight, my princess."
"Goodnight, Dez," I mumbled.
"Did she tell you about what might happen?" Kiriko asked.
I nodded my head, sighing, "She did."
"Mercy and I will do whatever it takes to ensure that she does not have a miscarriage."
"Life is life, Kiriko. I know both you and Mercy are healers and know more than I ever will, but if life decides to take anothers in order to save one, then we must let it be. We can't interfere with mother nature. But," I turned and faced her, standing up. "I do appreciate your help. Both yours and Mercy."
Kiriko nodded, "If anything happens or makes you feel unsettled, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us."
"I can't thank ya enough, Kiriko."
"I owe you a lot for saving my life."
"Ya don't have to owe me anything anymore. I did what I needed to do and I wasn't going to let a comrade, a friend, die out on the battlefield when they have a home they need to get back to when all is said and done."
"That reminds me, how did Y/N take it when you returned?"
I chuckled, "Just as you'd expect. Tears were everywhere and of course so were hugs."
Kiriko smiled, but it soon faded away.
"You have someone back at home ya miss?"
"My mother."
I placed a hand on her shoulder, "Your mother would be proud to see how far ya've come."
"Thank you, Odessa."
"Come here, little fox!" I smiled, picking her up and pulling her into a hug.
Kiriko chuckled and hugged me as tight as she could. I set her down and smiled, rubbing her head, messing her hair up a bit.
"I hope one day you can return home like how I did."
"Me too, but I guess Overwatch still needs me to do some work with them."
"All I can say is do your best, little fox."
Kiriko chuckled as she got into bed, "I'll do my best, Odessa."
I walked over to the other side of the bed and crawled in, being careful to not wake Y/N up. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into the empty space that was beside me. Closing my eyes and feeling her arms wrap around me in response pulled me into a deep sleep.
