Walking back to Junkertown's gates, they opened upon my arrival. I picked my head up to see the people were going about their normal business. The kids were running around, fighting one another as Odessa had taught them. I smiled to myself, thinking back on the conversation my mother had started in regards to having a child with Odessa. I wouldn't mind adopting a child, but since Odessa wasn't here, I didn't want to make any decisions without her. It's not that I wasn't capable of making decisions without her, this was something we needed to talk together about as a couple. She didn't even officially marry me since she left to join Overwatch. I still had the engagement ring on my finger, still waiting for her to return so we can hold an actual ceremony with her and my family. Along with the people of Junkertown, but that was again something we needed to talk about. If we wanted to do a separate wedding or one big one with everyone involved.
With everything occupying my mind, I didn't even realize my brain was on autopilot mode until I reached the place where she showed me. I didn't want to call it her 'castle' but it kind of looked like one when I think about it. I walked over to the door and opened it up, stepping inside to see all of the things she had gotten since she was Queen of Junkertown. She was only Queen for about ten years before she had to join Overwatch. It was quite a long time to rule, but it seems the people liked how she ruled in Junkertown. With her gone, people were still the same, thankfully, because if they weren't, I'd have to have one of the others step in because we all know I can't fight like Odessa. One thing I tried to do when she was gone was to get better, but it all felt too familiar when I was training outside by myself. Some of the kids would come by and see what I was doing and admire the weapon I had. They asked me questions about Odessa and when she'd return to Junkertown. While they didn't mean any harm to their innocent questions, it still hurt when someone would mention her or ask me when she'd return. They all knew I didn't know, so why still ask me about her?
I walked over to the living space to see there were multiple scrap parts lying about. There were even some cards and gold coins sprawled all over the floor. I chuckled to myself, remembering how crazy game night can get with the others. Especially with Junkrat almost causing an explosion to go off here and there. I cleaned up the floor a bit, making sure we had the right number of cards since we constantly needed to get a new deck. I put them away in a cabniet and picked up the gold coins, putting them in my pocket so I could put them back in the vault when I went upstairs. Heading over towards the kitchen, everything was how it was. All neat, clean, and tidy. We mostly did the cooking back in our place since it was mostly just the two of us we cooked for. Heading back to the entry way and going up the stairs, I was met with the long hallway. When Odessa first became Queen, the walls were filled with portraits of Mason. Those have since been removed and they were replaced with Odessa and other photos as well. The main one was the one everyone could see when they walked into the entry way. It was of her with the crown on and Carnage was resting on her one shoulder.
Walking down to the left end of the wallway, I looked at the photos that were hanging. One was of her taking out some criminals and another was an action shot of her punching someone in the face. I chuckled since Hammond captured that photo. There was another one of where she was arm wrestling Meri in her mech. I walked down towards the right side of the hallway, where the vault was. Since they were more hidden than the ones on the left, they were mostly pictures of the two of us or her. They were photos I took, like the one where she was training the kids and teaching them how to use wooden knives. The one closer to the vault was a picture of the two of us Meri had captured. We were walking to the center of town, having a date night. The two of us were holding hands and the moon was angled just right. It was a beautiful photo Meri captured. I opened up the vault, tossed the gold coins from downstairs in, and closed the door locking it behind me. I turned and walked towards the one room I did not want to enter in just yet.
Making my way towards the throne room, I opened the door to see it was in such a disarray. There were papers all over the floor, bags of gold coins in there as well, and some taxidermy animals, like a dingo. Her electric guitar was hanging on the wall behind her throne. I walked over to it and sat down, looking at her desk, which was very disorganized, but there were some personal photos of us on her desk. But other than that, her desk was swamped with mostly Overwatch letters and notices on her being called to help. There was one that had 'final notice' in big red letters. It looked like they really wanted her and she pushed it off to maintain her duty here because one of them dated all the way back to a year after she became queen here. I gathered all the Overwatch notice papers up and there was an envelope that had my name addressed on it. I picked it up to see it was open, never sealed. I took out the folded piece of paper and unfolded it, reading Odessa's messy handwriting.
"Y/N,
I was able to find someone who will be able to officiate the wedding. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until I come back from Overwatch. I don't know how long that will be, but I hope to not be long, my princess. Even though the time is undefined, Winston gave me an estimate of about two years or so. If I am out longer than two years, ya might know why. If Junkrat, Hammond, and Roadhog return in either the span of the two years or less or a bit more, and I'm not with them, please, reach out to Overwatch. I told them how worried ya get when you have no idea where I am. Their contact is listed below.
Take care, my princess.
Your Queen,
Odessa."
I looked down to see there was a phone number and I was about to grab the phone that was on her desk, but hearing something in the distance caught my attention. They were bells, which only meant one thing: a raid.
A/N: Last part before the part numbers get dropped! Hang in there you're almost to the modern time line!
