I paced back and forth as I was with my mother in our bedroom. I wasn't even dressed and I was wearing what I normally wear, which wasn't anything fancy. But as I stared at the white dress across from me, my heart was beating faster than any of the times Odessa decided it was a good idea to flirt with me. Sitting beside my mother, who was on the bed, I let out a sigh.
"Were ya this nervous when ya married dad?" I asked.
"Sorta," she said, looking over at me. "I was more worried about the people watching."
"Shit, that's right! All of the people in town are either going to be there or know of it," I let out a deep breath.
"Y/N, what are ya so worried about?"
"I-I really don't know. Everything changing after we get married."
"You've been with Odessa for more than thirteen years at least. You two were practically married when she came back from the Burning Lands. So nothing is going to change when the two of ya get married. She already had a duty to ya when she became ya girlfrien', but nothing is going to change how she sees ya. And the same can be said with you. Ya love her and would do anything for her and she would do the same. All you're going to do today, is finally going to come together as one instead of being two."
I nodded my head, looking over at my dress, seeing that there were subtle hints to our personalities tied within the lace of the dress. How my mother's friend was able to do it, I had no idea but they did an amazing job. There was a knock on the front door before it opened up, revealing my father was standing there.
"Y/N, everythin' is startin' in ten."
"Ten minutes?!" I asked, jumping up. "H-How is Odessa?"
"She's trying to hide her nerves, but that's Odessa."
I let out a small sigh of relief. At least I wasn't the only one who was nervous about today. My father closed the door and I turned back to face the dress. I nodded my head and with the help of my mother, changed into the dress. She did my hair to the best of her ability, since we were running low on time. And when I was ready, I grabbed the boquet of flowers before facing the front door. My mother looked at me, some tears in her eyes as she hugged me. I was about to cry, but as the door opened up, I looked out into the sun to see most of the people from town were there.
The people who lived near us had their windows open and sitting by them. Some were on their balconies while others were on the roofs of the houses. I looked down to see Odessa was standing by the person who was officiating the wedding. She picked her head up and looked at me, a big smile appearing on her face. My father walked over to me and he and my mother led me down the stairs and into the area in front of the house. The people of Junkertown stood up from their chairs as I made my way past them. Odessa came over and greeted us. My mother and father removed their interlocked arms from mine and Odessa interlocked hers with mine.
"I know you'll take good care of 'er," my father said.
"Make sure ya visit," my mother chuckled as they walked over to where Odessa's family was.
"Are ya ready, princess?"
I smiled, nodding, feeling tears forming in my eyes. We walked over to the person and stood facing one another.
"And here I thought I was short compared to ya," the person chuckled, which got everyone in the crowd laughing. "Anyway, I'm sure ya get that a lot."
"More often than not," Odessa said.
"It's pretty intimidating, not gonna lie," they said. "But that aside, are you two ready?"
"We are," we both said.
"People of Junkertown and familes of Y/N and Odessa, rejoice! Today is the day where two lovers officially become one with another. Where they will go through the rest of their life fighting against their problems as one and coming together as one. It is such a beautiful and momentous occasion, especially for the Queen herself.
"When Odessa reached out to me, askin' if I would want to officiate her weddin', I said absolutely. I met up with her before I could meet Y/N. Unfortunately, we all know Odessa had to leave, puttin' the weddin' in a standstill until she returned. Now she has returned safe and sound, I have finally got the pleasure of meeting Y/N a few days before today. And there is only one thing I can say to the both of ya: ya truly found the person ya cherish with all of your heart and you would do anything to protect them. I love that. But enough about me. Let's get into with the vows."
The person reached onto the podium and handed us the right rings we needed to put on each other's finger. I looked at Odessa's ring before holding onto it tightly, not wanting to drop it.
"Odessa, would ya like to go first?"
"I'd love to."
"Repeat after me. I, Odessa Stone, will love you, Y/N L/N, day in and day out. I will lift you up when you are down, be your rock, your shoulder to cry on when you need it. I will do my best to ensure you are safe whenever I am around and I will be the light in the darkness to guide you home."
Odessa, repeating those words, slipped the ring onto my finger and now it was my turn. I repeated the vows I wrote and slipped Odessa's ring onto her finger. We both looked at one another, smiling as we did so.
"I love seeing the look in your eyes at one another. I officially announce you two as one," the person said. "Odessa or Y/N, you may kiss your wife."
I reached up to grab the collar of Odessa's shirt, pulling her down to my level before placing my lips firmly against hers. She wrapped her arms around me and lifted me up, holding me to her height. We pulled away from one another and smiled at each other before facing the crowd.
