INSIDE the lavish room, the ten Alphas are sitting on each side of the table. The first five rank alphas are sitting at the right side of the table while the other alphas are sitting at the left side. Sa dulo ng mesa, doon nakaupo ang Crown Prince. Lahat sila ay tahimik at parang wala silang balak magsalita.
Magkasiklop ang kamay ng Crown Prince habang nakapatong ito sa lamesa. Dimitri let out a small sigh. He cleared his throat before speaking. "Since everyone is here. Let's start the meeting."
Their attention where now turned to the Crown Prince.
"Ito ang unang beses na makilala ko kayong lahat. Unfortunately, my brother couldn't come so, I came alone." Ani Dimitri. "His Majesty sent me here to help all of you. Since we have the common enemies, His Majesty allowed me to express my own solution on how to handle rogues and hunters."
"Your Highness, we don't have any problems with rogues since they are also werewolves like us but our big problem is the hunters." Ani Alpha Dale.
Keanu agreed. "Yes, it's like predator and prey. Hunters are the predators and we are the prey. Hunters and werewolves are enemies since the ancient time. Hunters are used to hunt werewolves. Werewolves are used to run away from werewolves. Also, their technologies are developing fast. Many of our kind have already killed by them."
Dimitri looked at Keanu. Does he know the truth about his mate? Tumikhim siya. "I am aware of that, Alpha Keanu."
"Your highness, we aren't afraid of death but every time we lose our members because of the hunters, we felt that we aren't worthy of our positions as the Alpha of the pack. As an Alpha, it's our responsibility to protect our pack members." Saad ni Alpha Yael.
Tumayo si Dimitri at tinignan ang mga Alpha isa-isa. My father was right about them. They aren't just an Alpha who looked after their positions but they are the kind of leaders who are willing to die for their people. "Before everything else, let me ask you a question, Alphas. Do you believe that some hunters are being force to hunt werewolves? And some of them are not merciless as other hunters?"
Nagkatinginan ang lahat.
"Your highness, what do you mean?" Keanu asked.
"Alpha Keanu, you know what I mean."
Natigilan si Alpha Keanu dahil sa sinabi ng Crown Prince. "Your highness?"
Umiling si Dimitri. "Natanong ko 'yon sa inyo dahil alam kong may mga hunters rin na hindi gusto ang mga ginagawa nila. May mga hunters na napipilitan lang. May mga hunters na mababait rin."
"Your highness, have you met one before?" Asked Alpha Rehan.
Tumango si Dimitri na ikinagulat ng lahat. He looked at Alpha Keanu.
Natigilan naman si Keanu dahil sa uri ng tingin ng Crown Prince rito. Parang may gustong ipabatid ang Crown Prince sa uri ng tingin nito. What is he trying to tell me?
"I met two hunters five years ago. The hunters caught me and brought me to their silver cell. I thought I was going to die there but I was lucky because two hunters save me. They are siblings and they are quite young. They saved me and I promised that I will get them out but I failed to keep my promise." Pagkwento ni Dimitri. Humawak siya sa gilid ng lamesa.
"Have you met them again, Your highness?" Alpha Eugene asked.
Tumango si Dimitri. "Recently. And I'm happy that they are starting to live normally." He looked again at Keanu. "After this meeting, stay. I need to talk to you."
"Yes, your highness."
The meeting continued. Napag-usapan nila kung ano ang mga dapat nilang gawin sa mga rogues at hunters na gumagambala sa kanila. The Crown Prince expressed his ideas to deal with the problems regarding the rogues and hunters. And the meeting lasted for six hours. But before the meeting ended, the Crown Prince asked a question that the Alpha's never thought that His Highness would ask about it.
"How many of you has found their mate?"
Like inside the classroom, only Alpha Keanu and Alpha Dale raised their hand.
Napatango si Dimitri. "Congratulations."
"Thank you, your highness."
Dimitri tsked. "Why are you all timid while talking to me? I'm just like you. Hindi naman ako iba sa inyo so treat me the same."
"Your highness, you're the Crown Prince. We don't dare to disrespect you." Ani Alpha Aziel na sinang-ayunan naman ng lahat.
"Yes, I'm the Crown Prince but I'm not in the palace. So, can you treat me like how you treat each other. Though I know that I am younger than all of you but I hope that you can treat me as your brother. Your younger brother." Ani Dimitri. Sa kanilang dalawa kasi ng kapatid niya, siya ang panganay at ang panganay, siya lagi ang sumasalo sa lahat. Katulad na lang sa pagiging tagapagmana. Ayaw niya sana pero wala siyang magagawa dahil siya ang panganay.
Nagkatinginan ang mga Alpha. Lahat ay nagtatanong sila sa isa't-isa kung ano dapat nilang sabihin sa Crown Prince. Then they all looked at the Crown Prince. Crown Prince Dimitri looks serious and he doesn't look like he's joking.
"Your highness, if that's what you want then..." ngumiti si Keanu, "okay, we will treat you as our younger brother."
Nanlaki ang mata ng ibang Alpha at tinignan si Keanu.
"Keanu, what the hell are you saying?" Siniko ni Reginald si Keanu.
Keanu rolled his eyes. "It's his highness wants. After all, he's right. Though he is our Crown Prince, he is the same as us. Ang pinagkaiba niya lang sa atin. Mas mataas ang posisyon niya kaysa sa atin. But I could feel his genuine intention. Walang halong pagkukunwari kaya bakit hindi?"
Natahimik ang lahat saka tumingin sa Crown Prince.
"Keanu was right." Alpha Zale said.
Sumang-ayon naman ang lahat.
"But it will take time before His Highness will got close to us." Ani Alpha Rowan. He bowed his head before leaving the meeting room.
Sunod naman na umalis ang iba hanggang si Dimitri at Keanu na lang ang natira sa loob ng meeting room.
"Your highness, ano ang sinasabi mo kanina na pag-uusapan natin?" tanong ni Alpha Keanu.
Dimitri sighed. "Alam mo ba ang totoo tungkol sa mate mo?"
"What do you mean, your highness?"
"You know exactly what I mean, Keanu." Seryosong saad ni Dimitri.
Keanu looked at the Crown Prince. "So, it was Ava and Alden who saved you?"
Dimitri nodded his head. "It's them but I think they couldn't remember me. It's okay. At least I can see that they are safe here."
Napabuntonghininga si Keanu at naalala ang gabing sinundan niya ang patak ng dugo sa damuhan. The droplets of blood lead him to Ava's house. wala siyang maramdaman na ibang presensiya sa bahay nila Ava sa mga oras na 'yon kaya ibig sabihin isa sa magkapatid ang nagmamay-ari sa mga patak ng dugo na sinundan niya. He knew Ava's scent. He took some samples of the droplets of the blood and take it home. He couldn't smell anything at first but just after 24 hours, he smelled the scent of lavender. Kaya noon pa man, alam niyang hunter si Ava at Alden. Silang dalawa ang pumapatay sa mga hunters na natatagpuan nilang patay.
"Did she tell you about it?"
Umiling si Keanu.
Tumango si Dimitri. "Maybe she's scared. But I could see her genuine feelings towards you." Tinapik niya ang balikat ni Keanu. "Don't lose her. Iilan na lang ang babaeng kayang ipaglaban ang mga mahal nila at nagmamahal ng totoo."
Keanu smiled. "I love her and I don't want to lose her."
Tumikhim si Dimitri. "Single here."
Natawa ng mahina si Keanu saka yumukod. "If there's nothing else, I shall take now my leave, your highness."
Tumango si Dimitri.
Lumabas si Keanu ng meeting room. Naiwan naman si Dimitri sa loob at nag-iisip. When can I meet my mate too?
