She was beauty and light. A true beguiling being in the presence of man. Her dark brown mane, a tuft of curls atop her head, dazzling with an abundance of rhinestones and a jewelled headpiece. Her coconut skin shimmering under the glare of the fire ball in the sky as sweat beaded her supple body. Her body was gyrating, her waist moving in a circular motion to the rhythmn booming from the truck stacked with large speaker boxes before her.
She could feel the heat burning her skin just as she could feel the wind glide over, cooling it down. With what she was wearing, she should have been burnt to a crisp by now, but she wasn't. Today, she was a butterfly, or at least that's what the costume she wore looked like. A naughty butterfly. A butterfly that wore a heavily rhinestoned thonged-monokini with thins straps all across her body barely leaving much to the imagination and two cups that held her average breasts in place. She could only pray that her nipples did show out just as she did. Her wings were majestic and felt like they weighed a tonne but she was a strong girl, two wings were nothing to her. They made her look even more mystical plus she was still able to show off her dance moves.
That's what she wanted to do most, dance. She lived for it. Her well endowed derriere was covered by the wings which she didn't mind but now as a fast tempo song kicked in, she wanted to get down and dirty. One hand held her chalice filled with alcohol while the other gripped her thigh high boots as she bent forward to shake her bum. Her twerking skills were phenomenal and this was sealed by her friends cheers as they were recording her with their phones the moment the carnival began. "We're creating forever memories" her friend Robyn always says everytime she filmed or took a picture of something. The throng proceeded around the bend towards the destined park where they would party until the sun rose again, hundreds of people just having a good time. She moved along with the crowd, as did her friends Robyn and Taylor, hips swaying to the beat.
"This is fucking amazing!" Taylor screamed and this made her throw back her head in laughter. She was happy, she always was. She couldn't remember the last time she was sad. Well she could, she just chose to ignore that time of her life. Bodies drenched with sweat and liquor under the evening sun as they now entered the park where a huge stage was set up with dazzling lights and a DJ queuing another song that sent the crowd into a frenzy. She and her friends found a corner so they could cool off a bit. "Whew! My feet are killin' me girl but I'm gonna get some more drinks. Y'all want anything?" Taylor asked as they were watching the stragglers enter the park, some already keeling over from being wasted already. "Yeah" she and Robyn echoed as they handed her their cups to freshen their drinks.
She unhooked the straps to her butterfly wings and pulled it from her shoulders. Her body buzzed with relief as she let it fall at her feet. Maybe she should have gone with the feathered costume like Robyn and Taylor, it would've been much easier. But then, she wouldn't be her if she didn't pull people's attention. She was breathtaking and she knew it, loved flaunting herself because every female wanted to be her. She was a celebrity of some sorts, if being the world's youngest prima ballerina who then went on to be a world class dancer and teacher that specialised in every aspect of the art would be classified as that. She was featured in music videos, movies and even had her own shows in places she couldn't even pronounce. Her name and face was plastered amongst the biggest in Hollywood.
Yes, she guess she was a celebrity, since the paparazzi bombarded her with their cameras and questions almost everywhere she went. But not here. No, this little island gave her freedom to do as she pleased and not be judged. The locals here knew who she was and smiled at her, but they left her and friends alone. She guessed they could see that she needed the break and would always return just for that. But she had to blame herself as well because she liked the lights on her. After all, she was light. No darkness was impenetrable for her. She brought laughter, hope, peace, love.
"I see you've got a new tattoo Morgan. I love it!" Robyn said nodding towards the large dream catcher tattoo that covered all of her right hip with its feathers extending down the side of her thick thigh."Thanks Rob. I've had it for over a month now" Morgan replied.
"Wow. I still can't even get over the fact that it's been a year since we've all seen each other. I mean, you're my best friend for Christ sake" she pouted.
No, I'm not Morgan thought to herself. Robyn and Taylor were best friends, they barely knew the real her, not that she'd ever tell or even show them. They were just happy to be associated with her so they could be caught in the spotlight. She didn't mind sharing it though, she wished everyone could have a little light shine on them and expose their hidden talents. Her best friend wasn't here and she missed her more each day. It could get lonely here sometimes and she needed shopping buddies. Her boyfriend was a great one but he agreed with everything she chose.
She didn't bother replying to Robyn but smiled when she saw Taylor heading their way with their drinks. She took her golden chalice then took a big chug.
"Woah, slow down honey. You don't want to get drunk too quickly" Taylor chuckled nervously. Morgan smirked, if they only knew.
"Isn't that why we're here? To get wasted and make bad decisions?" she shouted while starting to dance again. This got the girls to start rocking with her. "And some bad decisions are heading our way right now. I don't know about you, but I'm dancing my ass off tonight" she continued, her gaze drifting towards the three gorgeous men approaching. She crooked her finger towards the tallest muscular man with beautiful dark chocolate skin. Her friends looked at her with shock as she pulled him by the tank top and started grinding against him. The music took over and she let go.
