Morgan was mortified to know that this wasn't over, that Roman wasn't lying in a dark ditch somewhere on the verge of death after he drank her blood. She took a sip of the hot chocolate she received to pull her back from going over the edge. To learn that Roman's torment wasn't over was enough to drive any sane person mad. She didn't want him in her life, not like she did the first time she saw him.

"Well what the hell am I suppose to do, huh? He's crazy!" she whispered harshly to him and he chuckled. For the first time, Morgan wanted to slap Kade so hard across his face that he went blind.

"This isn't funny, he almost killed me!"

"I know, I know and I'm sorry for laughing but he is off his rocker, especially when he saw you with Seven that night. Even after all these years, his jealousy still gets the best of him."

"How do you know so much about Roman? I mean you do look a little similar to him, are you his brother or...?

"Oh no honey, I was his lover."

Nothing prepared Morgan for that bomb Kade dropped. His lover? The bitter sting of jealousy pierced her heart even after all Roman put her through. She couldn't believe some sick, deranged part of her still wanted Roman all to herself and didn't want to know who he'd been with. Morgan cleared her throat and released the tight grip she had on the arm of her chair.

"Was?" Morgan could barely hear herself when she spoke but Kade sure did which made him chuckle again. He drank his black coffee like it wasn't a little below the boiling point.

"You can put away those tiny claws, kitten. Roman and I haven't fucked in a century if that's what you're wondering. Do we still love each other? Yes we do, but more along the lines of a father and son- oh, that doesn't sound right with all sex we had. He's more like an older brother to me- nope, that doesn't sound right either. My point is we still care about each other but I know you're who he needs."

"Roman doesn't need me, he has his whores to keep him company. He just finds pleasure in hurting me."

"That may be true but you have to prove to him that you're the one he should be with."

"And what should I do, huh? I shouldn't have to prove anything! I shouldn't have to be thrown across the living room so he can deal with his wounded pride or almost killed because I dared to kiss someone who actually likes me! The Prince's life shouldn't be in danger because of his sister's messed up choices. It shouldn't be this hard, love shouldn't be hard!"

The tension grew thick between them. Morgan released a frustrated breath and took a bite of the lukewarm bacon that was on her plate. There was only one other person in in the café and Morgan thanked her lucky stars they weren't interested in their conversation.

"You're right. It shouldn't be this hard but Roman is plagued by evil forces no one can comprehend."

"I don't understand."

Kade glanced at the meal that sat before him before he looked at the heiress again.

"If you think that you've known true evil then you really don't know Roman. I've been by his side for more than a millennia and I have seen the carnage he can bring forth if he so desired. The worst part is that he can't help the way he acts. His human body only acts as the vessel to restrain whatever creature lurks inside him and the beast needs to be satiated often through blood. However, it's harder to control when he's in one of his jealous fits and nothing has ever hurt him before until..."

"Me." Morgan finished his sentence.

"Yes. The narcotics he takes help to keep the voices in his head quiet but when he suddenly appeared in my mansion covered in your blood, it did something to him. He seemed changed and I fear he will return for more."
