The glare of the flat screen television disturbed her slumber. She grimaced as she opened her eyes to search for the remote control device that would turn it off and send the bloody thing behind the retractable wall. Her movements were hindered by Roman who was sound asleep on top of her chest. She didn't want to wake him since it was one of those rare moments when he actually slept. Morgan carefully moved away from Roman, replacing her breasts with her pillow the got out of bed. She guzzled a half litre of water from the large water bottle at her bedside, yet her thirst seemed unquenchable. Fixing her disheveled hair, her eyes looked at the bright rectangle playing reruns of one her favourite sitcoms. Morgan turned it off quickly before she got caught up in the comedy and missed out on getting some rest.
Cradled in the darkness of the bedroom, she turned to get back into bed when she heard an audible exhale. Roman was awake. Still, she peeled back the bedspread to get under it but his words jerked her to a stop.
"Let me put a baby inside of you." he spoke in a low, groggy voice.
Jesus Christ, had Roman finally lost his mind?! Who the hell blurts that out? Morgan had a hard time breathing as her head reeled from the word 'baby'. A baby was the last thing they needed in their whirlwind lives. It took a while for Morgan to even open her mouth so she could respond to Roman.
"What?! What's gotten into you, Raven? Is this a sick joke?" heart pounding out of her chest and her voice pitched higher than she'd like, Morgan asked her question.
"Don't call me Raven. However, I am serious."
The hysterical laughter she emitted could've awakened the dead. This had to be a prank, he had to be pranking her just to see what she would say. Gathering herself together, she'd have to let Roman know why his little 'suggestion' was a bad idea. Propping a knee up on the bed, she looked in the direction of where she left Roman asleep.
"First of all, you hate children. You eat them for fuck's sake! The second the baby starts crying, it's a goner. Secondly, for a baby to even be possible, our souls would have to be united in love and since I barely have one left and I highly doubt you had one to begin with, it'd all be for naught because you sure as hell don't want to be tied to me permanently. A kid is literally the last thing we need right now, Roman. We don't even have a real relationship. We fight way too much, we have an unhealthy sex life and our obsession with each other is too toxic and unstable for a baby to be around. So no, I will not bear you a child."
Morgan was certain the words stung but they were the truth. Roman was really out of line for even making a suggestion like that when they could barely keep a conversation going. The existing sadness that dwelled with her now grew three times its size when the thought of her and Roman having a family and living happily ever after faded. Morgan was condemned to be unhappy and she was still making her peace with it.
"Okay." his calm demeanor was very disconcerting.
She felt his warm hand on her wrist pulling her towards him. Morgan allowed herself to be pulled down on top of him where he held her against his chest. His heartbeat was slow, way too slow for a normal demon. She hung on to the steady rhythm as it lulled her to sleep. He smelled like what she imagined heaven to be.

A few weeks laterMorgan walked through the dense forest with Vigor as he accompanied her back to Roman's palace. She'd taken the day to spend time with him and visit his new den located deep within the vast woodland. Vigor had offered her some rotting flesh so they could both feast together but Morgan respectfully declined fearing she had already eaten, which was a huge lie.
