Mercer had finally calmed down after nearly two hours of crying. His little form clinged to Morgan's ample chest, his tiny legs and arms were extending in all directions as he made small noises and sighs because he was content. However, Morgan's throat was dry and she was in desperate need of some water. She had been walking around the living room and humming non-stop to keep the little one calm but she was extremely tired and hungry.
The moments she did stop to rest Mercer would start wailing again, apparently he liked the vibration Morgan's humming created since it soothed him. Mercer was fed and changed, still his wide blue eyes stared up at her from the comfortable place in her arms and his little mouth slobbered all over his tiny fist. He gave his big sister a gummy half smile and immediately Morgan's womb began screaming to have a baby inside it, he was just too adorable. How could an innocent creature such as Mercer come from a horrible person like Mignon?
Morgan had figured out the truth on her own. It was her father. Unless there was a blue eyed demon that would willingly bed the wicked Demon Queen, Morgan would stick to her theory. Furthermore, she could sense that sliver of good inside him just as she could sense it Lourdes when they met. She didn't want to admit it to herself but she knew her father was mixing his seed with Mignon's evil thus producing half breed demons. Why were they still sleeping together? What was wrong with both of them? An angel and a demon would never consort, it was just wrong and yet, their union made her. The hanky-panky they had going on went against the natural order of things and for that a reckoning would come. The first thing she had noticed about Mercer's eyes, they had that incredible blue like the sky touching the ocean on the horizon.
Lourdes had that same blue colour but Morgan figured she inherited it from her mother who looked similar to her, so where else could he have gotten those gorgeous eyes. Then there was his skin, it was almost white. However, Mignon gave him a touch of colour and his full black curly hair. Morgan was a little envious that she gained nothing from her father's features but instead favoured the woman who despised her own child. Although, her granny did mention that Morgan's good nature was because of her father so maybe she did gain something after all. Still deep in her heart Morgan wondered what he looked like. Was he truly of a good nature like her? Why did he insist on giving Mignon children when she was a hateful shrew?
"You're not going to sleep are you?" she asked the baby but he just continued to suck on his fist and stare in wonder at the glistening lights above her head.
In that case, she had something or rather someone up her sleeve for his little ass. It was almost midnight and Morgan had her defence class in the morning so she couldn't be up with a baby all night. Picking up her cellphone off the sofa, Morgan dialed her sister. Lourdes' vibrant personality could make anyone weary and meeting her little brother for the first time would make her lose it. She heard the line connect,
"Hey Des, what are you doing?"
"If I wasn't reviewing my inventory, I'd be boning Quinn right now. What's the matter?"
"I have someone who really wants to meet you!" Morgan sang into the phone.
"Who is it? Can't this wait till morning?"
"Nope. Trust me Des, you're going to love him. Just get over here girl!"
"Hold on, is it you're mate? Have you found your mate?!"
Yes! Morgan wanted to tell her but she bit her tongue and took a deep breath.
"No, it's nothing like that. Trust me, you won't regret this. In fact, you may get mad that I hadn't called you sooner." Morgan heard a long sigh from her sister then held her breath through the long pause that followed. She hoped that her sister took the bait and come over so she could get some rest.
