The call went to voicemail for a third time which sent Morgan right over the edge. Quinn had also rejected her call and Morgan was now sure something was going on between Lourdes and her man.
"Damn it, Lourdes! Where the hell are you?!" she screamed at the digital device.
Just when she needed her sister the most, she had to disappear. Fuck! Morgan paced her bedroom as she burst at the seams with stress thinking about which demon would be stupid enough to take the Prince. Of course, Lilia was her number one suspect since she didn't know her very well plus no kidnapper would go the extra mile to kidnap the babysitter too, would they? So it must have been her! Fuck! Where could she have taken him?
She didn't know the first place to look for Mercer. Morgan thought about how small and helpless he was, she knew that he'd become fussy if his needs weren't met and she dreaded to think what they'd do to him in order to keep him quiet. Morgan should have hired security guards to protect him whenever she wasn't present, there was so much more she could have done to keep him safe and now guilt and anger ate away at her heart. Fuck! She was such a fucking screw up! Whenever any good happened to her, there was always something bad waiting to follow quickly and blow everything to bits. What was she going to do? Mignon could never hear of this.
As her feet got rug burns from the constant pacing, a thought hit her like a speeding car. Roman was eyeing her brother like a delicious midnight snack the last time he was in her home, maybe he was back in the city and took him away to get back at her. Fuck! Without another thought, Morgan quickly dialed Kade's number who, unfortunately, took a while to answer.
"Morgan." he answered with her name.
"I'm going to need you to be honest and I mean really honest with me, Kade. Is Roman back in town?"
"Haven't I always been honest with you Princess?"
"Just answer the damn question Kade!" Fuck!
"No, he's not."
"Are you sure he's not here? Maybe he-"
"I am sure Morgan, you'd be the first person to know. What's going on?"
"It's nothing." Morgan lied.
"I cannot help you if you're going to lie to me. Allow me to offer my assistance any way I can, Princess."
Kade was right but she was afraid of word getting out and the other territories hearing the horrible news to use it to their advantage. Demons were the ruling class and thus the other Kings and Queens would use any opportunity to get the upper hand in this situation. However, Morgan was out of her depth here and she didn't know where to start searching for the Prince. So she swallowed her doubts and fears before she revealed the truth to him.
"Mercer is missing and I believe he was kidnapped. The last time Roman and I were together, he threatened to eat him so..."
"So you thought he made well on his promise. Trust me, he would've returned for Mercer a long time ago if he truly wanted him. Plus kidnapping isn't Roman's style, he would've just pried the Prince from your arms and have him right in front of your eyes."
"You're not exactly inspiring confidence in him, Kade."
"As I said, I'd never lie to you... Tell me, when did Prince Mercer go missing?"
"I-I don't know. I came home about twenty minutes ago from my studio and saw that he and his things were missing along with Lilia."
"Shit! I know that your dance sessions may last the whole day which would give them enough time to get out of our domain. They could be anywhere right now." It was the first time she had heard uncertainty in Kade's voice.
