Late night dinner ended on a silent note, without needing much talking. Their presences alone were enough to comfort the two individuals who couldn't see each other for half a day.
Being in care of the dishes would be Lucas' typical routine. When he stood up from his chair and extended his arm to grab the plate in front of him, Athanasia grabbed her own plate.
He scowled a little as he glanced at her. "We can play tomorrow, but I'm really exhausted right now, Athy..."
Athanasia stood up, holding her dish in front of her. Curiosity drove Lucas to follow her around at all times, but he was also growing more irritated.
"Athy..."
Subsequently, she approached him from the side and retrieved his plate off the table.
"I'll take care of the dishes."
"No. You broke enough plates."
Athanasia shot him a glare. Even the impulse to step on his foot had to be resisted. However, all of her aggravation vanished as she caught a glimpse of the tiny red dot on his shoulder.
She let out a deep sigh and placed the piled plates down on the table. When Lucas reached for it, she smacked his hand lightly.
"Sit still for a moment."
"I need to—"
She kissed his temple so abruptly that Lucas lost all words. Just a quick peck but left him blinking at her.
Athanasia's expression didn't seem to falter the slightest. Yet, a tiny trace of redness continued to appear on her face. She walked over to the same first aid kit box and took out some compresses and antibiotic.
When she turned to face him again, Lucas frowned at her. He was about to stand up when she pressed his shoulder down, narrowly avoided where she bit him.
"Take off your shirt."
Lucas blinked twice. Then he grinned. His lips parted and he let out a little whine instead because Athanasia pulled his cheek.
"Be quiet and take off your shirt," she demanded as she kept her finger pinching his cheek.
Lucas fenced Athanasia's hand away from his face with his forearm. Then he pulled his short sleeve shirt over his head. He grumbled under his breath, almost sounding like he was cursing at her.
"Can't you wait at least for the food in our stomachs to digest first before we fu—ACK!"
She whacked his lower back, causing him to arch forward slightly. Then she dabbed alcohol pad on his shoulder, leaving him hissing.
"You and your stup-"
Athanasia removed the pad from his shoulder. Lucas noticed and his shoulders went slump and turned away from her entirely.
"Sorry," Lucas muttered.
Athanasia didn't say anything and she went back to dab the pad on his shoulder again.
A few minutes later, he moved a bit away from her and shrugged his shoulder. He held up his hand to halt her, but she persisted in following him.
"It's not a big deal," he said, putting his shirt back on. "It's not like this is the first time you bit me. You even CLAWED me."
Using her back hand, Athanasia gave him another backslap. "Go take a shower," she repeated what he had said, "You stink," before grabbing the plates off the table.
Lucas watched as Athanasia began doing the dishes—something she had earlier decided to do—with her back to him.
"You know that's my job right?" He asked aloud.
