Chapter 8 : Someone's Story.

"What's his name?" Nikolai asked. Albedo hesitated to answer, but eventually he said "You don't need to know that."

Nikolai's body began to relax, "Yeah. You're right." He chuckled.

"This it?" Nikolai stood in front of the headquarters, Albedo nodded, "Yeah."

Nikolai looked down at Albedo and smiled, "I had a good time talking with you."

"I did too." Albedo looked at him, but didn't return the smile.

Nikolai felt as if he was melting as he looked into Albedo's eyes, but he quickly snapped out of it when something came to his mind.

"Oh! I got invited to a party, but they said it'd be preferable if I had someone go with me...I wasn't gonna go originally but—" "Are you inviting me to a party Nikolai?" Albedo raised an eyebrow slightly.

Nikolai got flustered and began to panic while saying; "Well—if you don't want to go you don't have to! I just thought maybe it'd be fun since—"

"I'll think about it." Albedo glanced down at the ground.

Nikolai nodded his head, "Let me give you my number."

Kaeya was surprised Ayato hadn't called him yet. He usually calls within an hour when things like this happen (Kaeya storming out of his work)...but he didn't.

He began to overthink it a little until his phone started buzzing.

Ayato..
Kaeya picked up immediately when he saw that name.

"Hey Kaeya, sorry I didn't call you sooner...I was busy." Ayato lied. He was really just too ashamed to talk to Kaeya after he spilt everything to Kazuha about his past relationship with the Fatui.

"It's alright. I'm sorry I walked out like that. That wasn't very mature of me." Kaeya laughed awkwardly.

Ayato smiled, "You're coming in tomorrow, correct?"

"Yes. That's correct." Kaeya nodded then looked down at Leo who was sitting right in front of him.

"Great. Please get some sleep tonight by the way, I've noticed your eye bags getting deeper." Ayato always noticed the littlest things.

Kaeya tilted his head to the side a little bit and smiled softly, "I will sir."

"Bye, and goodnight Kaeya."

"You too, Ayato."

"Mr—!" Albedo stopped Zhongli from saying another word, "No." Albedo walked to his bedroom, closing the door behind him.

"Oh. Alright." Zhongli cleared his throat and continued organizing Albedo's files.

Albedo flopped onto his bed and took off his shoes, kicking them off the bed.

He laid on his side and got his phone out. He stared at Nikolai's number for awhile.

I don't think I've ever been to a real party. I don't know what it's like.
Albedo gripped his phone a little tighter.

Though it sounds fun...I'm a leader of a powerful organization, it could be dangerous; I don't know how many people want me dead.
Albedo sighed.

...fuck it. I'll go.
Albedo began to text Nikolai.

[Albedo] I thought about it and I think going to that party will be a fun experience.

[Nikolai] Great! It's actually tomorrow...I'll pick you up around 7:00 PM, alright?

[Albedo] Sounds great.

Albedo took a deep breath.

It's just a party, you can do this.

It's just a mission, you can do this.

Xiao paced back and fourth in his office.

"But it's my first mission..and I feel like I've already screwed things up in a way." Xiao felt like screaming.

There was suddenly a tuneful knock on his door, he sighed and went to open it.

"Pantalone?" Xiao stepped back a little. He wouldn't say he was scared of Pantalone...maybe he was just a little uncomfortable by his presence.

"Hello Xiao. I was walking to Dottore's office when I heard you talking to yourself...you got your first case not too long ago, am I correct?" Pantalone smiled, making Xiao cringe.

"Yeah." Xiao looked away.

"Who is it?" Pantalone asked, tilting his head a little.

"Kaeya Alberich. He's apart of the police force." Xiao answered.

It went quiet for a few seconds, making Xiao look over to Pantalone..too see him holding in a laugh.

Pantalone eventually couldn't hold it in any longer and started bursting out laughing hysterically.

I think this guys insane.
Xiao gave him a weird look.

Pantalone calmed down a bit then began talking, "Kaeya Alberich? Really? Albedo's making you kill him?" Pantalone wiped a tear from his eye from laughing so much.

"Uhh..." Xiao stared blankly at him.

"I'd assume he'd want to kill him himself if he really wanted him dead." Pantalone said.

"Wait—do you not know who that is?" Pantalone was a little shocked.

"No..?" Xiao furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"I know you're new...but I'd assume someone would've told you by now." Pantalone shook his head, "I'll tell you, maybe it'll even help you a little."

Xiao was intrigued.

Xiao listened carefully as Pantalone told him everything about Kaeya and Albedo that he knew of.

"And that's all I know." Pantalone finished.

If Albedo gave me the mission to kill someone he cared dearly about...then this must be very important.
Xiao looked more persistent then ever!

"Thank you Pantalone." Xiao confidently said.

"You're very welcome Xiao. Now, I should really be heading to Dottore's office...I've already made him wait long enough." Pantalone nodded at Xiao then walked away.

I won't let you down Albedo!
Xiao smiled to himself.
