(Flashback)

(In the lounge area of the old headquarters)
"Don't you think you're a little too rough on him?" Childe asked as he walked over to Zhongli.
"I have to be." Zhongli leaned up against the bar table.
Childe followed his movements, "Y'know he's gonna end up hating you if you continue to treat him so poorly." Childe curved his lips into a small smirk.
"Oh please, he'll be thanking me in a few years. If it wasn't for me, he wouldn't know how to survive in the Fatui." Zhongli chuckled softly, already praising himself.
"I'm my opinion he shouldn't be in the Fatui at all." Childe muttered. Zhongli glared at him, "He wouldn't have a much better life if he didn't join the Fatui. His whole family's in a gang."
"I just think Dottore should've sent him to the police." Childe seemed to be genuinely upset about it.
Zhongli looked down for a moment, thinking about it.
Zhongli eventually sighed, thinking about it too hard bummed him out. "There's nothing we can do. He belongs to the Fatui now."
Childe frowned, "Yeah. I guess so."

(Present time)

Zhongli stood in front of Childe's grave.
"You were right." Zhongli went on his knees.
"As much as I hate to admit it, you were really right." Zhongli said.
"I know you'd be laughing at me right now," Zhongli smiled sadly, "even though I hated how much you've teased me, I'd give anything to hear you laugh again."
Zhongli's eyes glistened with tears. "I'm sorry I didn't have the guts to visit you sooner."
"But at least I'm here now." Zhongli took a hitched breath, he felt his tears roll down his face.
"That's all that matters...right?" Zhongli wiped his tears.
He leaned in and kissed the tombstone before getting up slowly.
"Goodbye, Ajax."
"You invited him to go have a drink with you?" Vera scoffed.
"Yeah. After he gets drunk, he'll give me all the information I need to take him down!" Nikolai smirked confidently.
"And what if you get so drunk that you can't remember any of it?" Vera raised an eyebrow, "That's why you're gonna be helping me. Teamwork, y'know?" Nikolai poked Vera's nose, smiling.
Vera grunted and rolled her eyes.
"You'll be in Angel's Share before us so you can overhear everything," he said very matter-of-factly.
"What if he sees me?" Vera asked. "There's an upstairs you dolt, you'll be up there. God, do you even think?" Nikolai teased.
"Whatever...I guess it's a good idea." Vera looked away, trying not to give Nikolai the praise he craved.
"See!" Nikolai poked her side and laughed, "By the end of the month we'll be in that bastards headquarters bossing everyone around!"
Vera looked at him, she couldn't help but smile. "Just you and me?" She asked.
"Just you and me." Nikolai's face softened.
Xiao walked around his office, thinking about the plan to kill Kaeya Alberich.
I could do it right now...though it's day and there would be many people out.
Xiao thought.
I guess tonight will be fine. Easy in and out.
Xiao walked in front of his mirror and frowned slightly while looking at himself.
