"I understand that you might think that he's incapable of doing something bad but—" Kaeya cut him off abruptly, "I never said I don't think that. I know he is very capable of doing some awful things, but I'm telling the truth. I haven't seen or talked to him in three years."
Kazuha took a deep, long breath. "Kaeya," he started. Kazuha using his first name grabbed his attention.
"You have to remember that Albedo is a murderer, a drug deal, and might even be the boss of the Fatui. You have to think about the people that are gonna be killed because of him and his organization. Is he really worth thousands of people?" Kazuha kept his soft eyes locked with Kaeya's.
No. I know he's not worth thousands of innocent lives.
Kaeya felt his eyes sting, but he knew couldn't look away. "I know. I know everything he and his organization have done, I know how many people they've killed and are going to kill...and I know that I am telling the truth. I haven't connected with him in several years."
Then why am I still lying?
Kaeya felt a weight get off his shoulders when Kazuha looked away.
Kazuha seemed to be in deep, deep thought.
Why are you lying to me?
Kazuha shook his head. He knew he wouldn't be able to get Kaeya to admit anything.
"Fine." He did a full body turn to Kaeya, "I'll leave you alone. I hope your hands recover quickly and aren't left with too bad of a scar." Kazuha looked down at Kaeya's bandaged up hands.
Kaeya had forgotten about his hands durin that conversation, he was actually a little surprised when he looked down to see them like that.
"Right." Kaeya looked away, slightly pouting.
Kazuha sighed and walked out, leaving Kaeya in the silence of the hospital room.
Albedo slammed the door to his office open, panting. It was empty, not even Zhongli was there.
"Zhongli?" His voice cracked as he called out for his assistance with tears running down his face.
Albedo noticed his breathing getting faster and faster; and more hitched. It felt like he couldn't control it. He felt himself start to get light headed, so he just dragged himself to a corner in his office—his room felt too far away at the time.
He back pressed up against the wall and he slid down to the ground. His body felt like it was taking over him. His mind couldn't control anything other then his voice, not his tears, not his breath. Nothing. His limbs felt too heavy to do anything.
What he saw kept replaying over and over and over again in his mind he didn't know if it would ever stop! At some point his brain started adding words that Kaeya never even said into it.
"He said...that these past years have been tearing him apart. Was that all just a lie to get me to trust him?" Albedo's voice was shaky, he hated it. He hated feeling this weak. He's experienced worse then this, way worse. But this felt different. Why?
Zhongli sighed. He didn't know if he was ready yet to face Albedo after the argument they had.
Well...I can't just avoid him forever. He's my boss after all.
Zhongli reached Albedo's office, before he even put his hand on the doorknob, he heard a soft weeping noise coming from inside.
Zhongli's heart sank.
Is that...Albedo?
Zhongli took a hard gulp before swinging the door open.
