"Is Mr. Kamisato in?" Kazuha asked, his lips curling a small smile.

"Unfortunately not...He went to check on Thoma before coming to work." One of the police officers said.

"Ah, that's alright. I'll just wait here then." Kazuha went over to the front desk area and found a chair to sit on.

Xiao couldn't stand waiting around for much longer. Was Kaeya even gonna show?...God, and he's right next to a police station it'll be hard to lure him somewhere reserved.

Xiao groaned, tapping his shoe on the ground.

Kazuha looked over, since the wall of the entrance was all glass, he could see Xiao still standing outside.

Who's he waiting for? Perhaps Mr. Kamisato? No, I think he would've waited inside if that was the case.
Kazuha narrowed his eyes at him, trying to figure it out.

"I don't remember. I only remember he was wearing a base guitar case."
Kaeya's voice popped into Kazuha's head.

Kazuha gasped a little as he stared directly at the base guitar case the man had on his back.

"He had dark green hair...and looked pretty young."
Kaeya's voice appeared in his mind again.

Kazuha stood up violently, keeping his eyes locked on the green haired man.

The officer at the front desk looked over to Kazuha worriedly. "Is everything alright sir?" They asked, "Yes. Do you know that man waiting outside?" He asked.

"No...I'm sure he's just meeting up with someone. Nothing to be concerned about." The officer at the front desk smiled.

Kazuha blew air through his nose as he began walking outside.

Maybe he already killed himself, that would make my mission a whole lot easier.
Xiao rolled his eyes, suddenly locking them to Kazuha.

He stood up a little straighter and cleared his throat, looking away from Kazuha.

"Are you waiting for someone sir?" Kazuha spoke in a subtle tone, but still being cautious, he didn't know if this was the killer he is talking to.

"Yes. I'm waiting for Kaeya." Xiao avoided eye contact, regretting what he said.

So informal. Perhaps they know each other well?
Kazuha relaxed his body a bit more.

Kazuha decided to ask, "How do you know Mr. Alberich?"

"Family friend." Xiao quickly replied, like he knew Kazuha was gonna ask that before he even opened his mouth.

Hm.
Kazuha looked him up and down. He fit the description, but he couldn't arrest him without proof it was in fact him.

Kazuha took out his phone "What's your phone number?" He asked.

Xiao blinked towards Kazuha, baffled, and a little flustered.

"What?! Why would you want my phone number?!" Xiao backed away an inch in surprise.

Because I need proof you're the murderer.
"Because I'd like to talk to you sometime." Kazuha answered with a smile.

Xiao looked away, thinking about it for a moment.

"I'm not giving you my phone number," "pervert." He mumbled as he began walking away.

Kazuha's smile faded when Xiao's back was to him.

If he came here for Kaeya, then he'll be back. I'll wait for him until then.
Kazuha turned around and went back into the police station.

Ayato came into the station about thirty minutes later.

"Kazuha? Have you already solved the case?" He joked, but Kazuha didn't find it amusing.

"I wanted to talk to you about the file you gave me. Could we go in your office for a moment?" He stood up and began walking to Ayato's office without a response.

Ayato opened his mouth to say something but he stopped himself inside, following Kazuha into his own office.

Ayato closed the door behind them, looking at Kazuha with a confused look.

Kazuha took out a paper from the Fatui case file and put it on Ayato's desk, "In the file, you gave me every Fatui member, but some of them are crossed out. Why is that?" Ayato walked over to see the paper, he sighed before talking. "The ones crossed off are dead."

"Dead?" Kazuha eyes traveled down the lists and pictures of the people.

"That's odd." He blurted, Ayato looked at him "What's odd?"

"None of these look like the man that Mr. Alberich described." Kazuha looked up at Ayato, their eyes locking together in a serious way.

"Well, this was three years ago. They've could've gotten more members and more people could've died. We haven't been investigating the Fatui as often so we wouldn't know." Ayato and Kazuha looked like they were fighting each other with just a stare.

"In my opinion Mr. Kamisato, I think you should always be keeping an eye on the Fatui." Kazuha narrowed his eyes a little, Ayato mimicked him as he spoke, "Please, call me Ayato." Ayato smirked devilishly.

Kazuha grabbed Ayato by his collar, Ayato eyes widened in surprise as his face went closer to Kazuha's.

"I don't know how you can call yourself a chief, Ayato." Kazuha teethed.

Using my own name against me. Who do you think you are?
Ayato stared him dead in the eyes, trying to keep his smirk.

"Not even telling the public the truth...you're the type of chief that makes me sick. People's family have died because of the Fatui, you're all about protecting your people...but when it comes to this you stay silent." Kazuha roughly let go of his collar.

He grabbed the file and began walking out of Ayato's office.

Ayato put a hand to his hip, a stern look suddenly appearing on his face when Kazuha turned around.

"Are you still gonna be on the case?" He asked.

Kazuha stopped at the door.

"Of course I am." Is all he said before leaving, slamming the door behind him.

Xiao walked around the streets, he had to wait until Kazuha left the station until he could go back.

Asking for my number? Ugh.
The scene of Kazuha asking for his number replayed in his head.

"I'm not that dumb." Xiao mumbled to himself.

Xiao was snapped out of his thoughts when he suddenly bumped into someone.

"Hey, watch where you're goin—" He looked up to see his target.

Kaeya Alberich.
