Zhongli knocked on Albedo's office door, it didn't take long for Albedo to allow him to come in.
When Zhongli walked into the office, he saw Albedo lounging around sitting on the chair behind his desk. A bit odd of him to not be doing his work.
"Is something wrong, sir?" Zhongli asked. "You've been disappearing very often. Where is it you go off to when you're not with me?" Albedo shifted his eyes over to Zhongli's.
To be honest, Zhongli didn't really go anywhere. He just walked around the headquarters and occasionally went around L.A. So he decided to answer honestly. "I just go on short walks around the headquarters, and sometimes around the city." Zhongli could tell just by the way Albedo's eyes narrowed the slightest that he was going to scold him about that, but he didn't let him.
"Let me remind you that you also disappear from time to time," Zhongli said. Albedo completely ignored him. "What if I had been attacked? You're supposed to protect me, aren't you? Isn't that part of your job?" He was right. Zhongli shouldn't be leaving him alone like that. It's because he knew he was right that made him angry.
He tried to keep his voice as calm as possible as he spoke, "Everyone in the Fatui would protect you. If anyone heard you being attacked they'd rush in here. We have high security, so I doubt anyone dangerous would come in anyway." Albedo scoffed at that. Kaeya entering without almost no trouble said otherwise.
"We can talk about this later. I have something else I'd like to talk to you about." Albedo said. Zhongli's expression said that he was listening. "I'm going somewhere tonight. Angel's Share to be exact." Zhongli was about to reply before Albedo began again, "And I want you to come with me. But you cannot say a thing to anyone about this. You will be waiting outside for me the entire time. Try not to be seen."
Zhongli had a bad feeling about this. It was strange that Albedo wanted him to come to something like this.
"Is this a meeting with a rival organization? What is it that you're worried about?" A look of puzzlement washed over Zhongli's face. "It's not a meeting with a rival organization," Albedo ignored the last question.
"I see. Then who is it with?" Zhongli tilted his head as he crossed his arms. Albedo shook his head, "It shouldn't matter to you." Zhongli hated how stubborn he was.
"Anyway, that's all I needed to talk to you about. I'd like it if you stayed by my side as I do my work." It wasn't an option. Zhongli walked over and stood next to Albedo. Albedo looked up at him, his eyes melted at the sight of Zhongli, he couldn't help but admire him. He quickly looked away when he realized what he was thinking and began doing his work.
The truth was, Albedo had an ugly thought in the back of his mind. The thought kept telling him that this was all just a trick to get him to Angel's Share just to be arrested once he entered the bar. He didn't like thinking that, but it was always a possibility. That's why he wanted Zhongli to be there, to keep him safe.
