Albedo could feel Zhongli staring down at him as he worked...it made chills go down his spine.

"Is something wrong Zhongli?" Albedo asked, sounding almost emotionless—but he was honestly very unsettled.

"No sir." Zhongli's gaze went off of Albedo, Albedo took a breath of relief and continued his work.

A few silent seconds went by before Zhongli started talking and staring at Albedo again.

"The mission you gave Xiao—with Kaeya Alberich...why did you—" "I gave him the wrong mission. That's all." Albedo tightened the grip on his pen.

"But, you did say a few weeks before giving him that mission that you were doing it randomly." Zhongli stated.

"Zhongli." Albedo said sternly, as if to put him back in his place.

Zhongli clenched his jaw and looked away, "Right sir."

So he's not over him.
Zhongli looked down at his shoes as he thought.

But I can't blame him. It's hard to get over someone who you fell in love with.
Zhongli thought of Childe...it strangely put him at ease. He was always terrified to think about Childe after his death...but now that he really is—it felt comforting in a way.

Kazuha entered a cafe, not a very popular one, but it felt homey.

"Hey Kazuha!" Said the owner who was walking around caring in new shipment of coffee beans.

"Hey," Kazuha waved at him with a smile.

Kazuha went over to a one person table in the corner.

"Did you loose your notebook again Kazuha?" The owner looked at him with a smug smile, Kazuha nodded embarrassedly.

"Lucky for you, I bought one yesterday because I knew you'd loose yours again." The owner went to the back then he came back a few minutes later with a brand new notebook.

"Thank you, I'll pay you back." Kazuha placed the notebook in front of him.

"No need. It's a gift from me to you." He smiled sweetly at Kazuha, Kazuha opened his mouth to insist he pays him back but he gave him a certain look which made him retreat and just give a thankful nod.

"I need to get back to work, but if you need anything please feel free to ask anyone." The owner waved bye and went back to work.

Kazuha looked down at the notebook and opened it to the first page.

Starting a new notebook was always so satisfying to him, but he couldn't let think about that right now...he needed to start writing everything he's learned about the case these past few days.

1:30.

"Hey Kaeya, you seem tired, how about you take a break?" A coworker said while passing by.

"Everyday is basically a break for him." Another coworker snickered.

Kaeya stood up, "I do need a break." he said plainly as he walked out of the police department.

He pulled out a lighter and a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and began to light a new one.

He leaned up against the side of the police department with a big sigh.

He thought having a smoke would help him with the thoughts about the new information about Albedo...but it honestly just made it worse.

Being by himself was awful, there was no work for him to drain himself in and no quiet bickering from his coworkers to distract him from everything...it was just him and his own thoughts.

Should I have told Kazuha the truth? About how Albedo is the new leader?
Kaeya looked down at his cigarette and frowned.

Why am I so selfish?
Kaeya thought about that night with Albedo.

Holding him felt nice.
Kaeya put he cigarette in his mouth and blew out some smoke a few seconds later.

I feel like every time I'm with him he cries.
Kaeya thought more about it,
Does he still feel vulnerable with me?

He didn't know why, but the thought of that being the case made him happy.

Maybe I'll visit the mall we met at tonight. That might help me process everything.
Kaeya smiled lightly.

Albedo played with his pen in between his index and ring finger, getting lost in his thoughts.

This would've been fine—if these thoughts weren't about Kaeya.

He's appearing in my life an awful lot, isn't he? First my dream, and then I accidentally send Xiao to kill him? Strange.
Albedo rested his head on his palm.

I don't really believe in coincidences, but right now, I know it is. Kaeya wouldn't want anything to do with me. And I don't want anything to do with him anymore.
Albedo frowned slightly.

Why does it hurt so much then? Why do I still care about his life? Why do I still wish that dream was real?
Albedo stopped moving the pen and slammed it on his desk, making Zhongli jump a little.

I can't think about him. I need to focus on my work, focus on the Fatui..
Albedo closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind—but he instead started picturing Kaeya smiling, laughing, and just being himself. God he was so beautiful.

Albedo opened his eyes and sighed.

I know he hates me. Why can't I just accept it?
Albedo looked over to the clock above the door.

1:40.

"Zhongli, I'm going out tonight. Please cancel everything I might have tonight." Albedo leaned his head back to look at Zhongli.

"Will do." Zhongli looked down at him with a stern look.

"But if you don't mind me asking, where are going?" Zhongli asked, Albedo looked back forward and didn't answer, instead, he finally started to get some work done.

Zhongli blew air out of his nose and shook his head in disappointment.

I'm going to where I first met Kaeya. Of course I can't tell Zhongli that though. Going there might help me accept the fact that Kaeya is no longer in my life anymore. Nor would he want to be.

Albedo couldn't help but have a small-sad smile while doing his work.
