"Is that all? You didn't want to tell me anything?" Pantalone ignored Nikolai's greeting, leaving Nikolai feeling offended.
"I don't have anything to tell you, do you think I should've?" Albedo raised an eyebrow as he tilted his head in curiosity.
Pantalone's body relaxed from its previous tense state, "No, I just don't get called up to your office unless it's something more...important." Pantalone scolded Nikolai.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
Nikolai twitched with anger but kept a smile on his face.
Vera hummed an unrecognizable song as she went through everything in Pantalone's office.
"Boring, boring, boring. Ooh~, what's this?" Vera took out some explicit magazine from a drawer with a smug look on her face.
She flipped through the pages of men, snickering at each picture.
Wait. I need to focus! But, what am I even supposed to find? Ugh, why did I do this?
Vera sighed, putting the magazine back where she found it.
She looked around some more before finding a file called—well, the name was scribbled out with Sharpie.
"Interesting," She whispered as she opened it.
Vera's eyes widened as she read each paper in the file, "What the h—!" The sudden sound of someone jiggly the doorknob startled Vera, making her drop the file and the papers slipping out.
She turned her head to the door in fear, she could feel her heart racing now.
"Hey—is there someone in there? I hope you know that this is my office." Pantalone's voice came from the other side of the door.
"I swear to god if that's you Dottore...I have nothing to hide anymore, just unlock this fucking door!" Pantalone started banging his fist on the door. Each bang shook Vera to the core. She grabbed at her heart through her shirt.
She looked around for some type of exit, but none could be found, she wasn't tall enough to reach any of the vents and they were too small for her anyway. She thought about a window, but it was too high up, she would surely die from a heart attack before even landing.
What do I do?! Nikolai, you couldn't have kept him occupied for just a few more seconds?
Vera bit at her nails as she thought deep and hard about what to do.
"Damn it!" Pantalone muttered angrily. "I swear I'm gonna break down this door and kill you Zandik." Pantalone backed up from the door a few inches.
Is he...walking away?
Vera looked up at the door.
The sound of Pantalone's running could be heard clearly. Vera didn't have time to think, just to hide.
Pantalone kicked down his office door with all his strength. Just because he's a banker doesn't mean he wasn't trained like everyone else.
When the sawdust faded away, he looked around the room for Dottore, but he was nowhere in sight.
"Ugh," Pantalone grumbled as he cracked his knuckles.
He looked down at a file laying on the ground with its papers leaking out from it messily.
I didn't touch this file, did I?
Pantalone bent down and put the papers neatly back in the file.
Just as he was putting the last one in, he heard a shuffle from under his desk.
He stood up immediately and put a hand on his gun. He then began slowly walking towards his desk.
